Item Get
I just finished this. Count me in with the “shotgun” approach. I really enjoyed most of it, I hadn’t played any of the directors previous games.

It threw me for a loop when I got the first boss lock on the left side - I’m glad I stuck with it.

I would happy replay it, just to enjoy all the fun character moments (and see the stuff I missed like pewter and renju being in a relationship) but I just can’t with the somniums. Trial and error is my least favorite type of gameplay.

I was hoping they would explain why Date could have memories from other timelines, but oh well.

Also is there a list of all possible endings? I had no idea you could leave with the receptionist (which I mostly stayed away from because I didn’t like that Date was a perv)

I don't think you can miss any endings other than the receptionist one, and the few bad endings you get from making the wrong choices--which aren't worth trying to get. For the receptionist, when you're running all over town looking for someone with a bum leg, flirt with the receptionist. She'll take you up on your offer and you'll suddenly just get an ending.

For the memories, I think most of the plot-relevant memories could be written off as him just remembering things from his past, and you can just ignore the few times it's mentioned for comedy. But you can also just assume he remembers for the same reason the characters of his other games do... Maybe it's time for you to play the Zero Escape trilogy. :)

Though I thought something was up with Aiba “joking” about the medication, I still thought it was a fun twist with a game full of fun twists. It also made me think that in those moments where Date gets increased reaction speeds to porn, maybe Aiba is like injecting an increase in dopamine into the system to encourage such a reaction to happen. Considering that Date doesn’t take any pills or anything, Aiba has to be the one to give him the dopamine he needs to counteract Saito’s brain problems.

Also, I had an epiphany that the figure we see making out with So in Saito!Iris’ Somnium is most likely Manama and that he saw them being romantic together when he was a child. Considering how Iris and Manama look eerily similar, it could have unconsciously triggered that memory inside Saito.

I feel like this game has so much depth to it which is fascinating.

Definitely Uchikoshi's best game, glad this is what we got after how disappointing ZTD was.

It's terrible that I don't get to hear Greg Chun sing and dance in the Grand Finale.

You can't even select Saito in the Dance Training!! DLC please.

So I'm an idiot and just realized why Aiba says "I'm home" and Date says "Welcome back" in the middle of the grand finale dance. That's a "perfectly ordinary" part of what it means to be family according to Mizuki earlier in the game.

Kaiji Tang steals the show in both of his roles anyway

Yeah, it felt like he was a completly different character....Up until he started bickering with Mizuki again, then it was clearly the same Date.

My grandmother had dementia during the last couple of years before she passed away, so the Mayumi somnium sequence felt really relevant to me. :unsmith:
On a less serious note, Moma as a closet A-set fan was probably my favorite comedy part of the game and Date calling Aiba a flourescent shrimp was just :golfclap:

Just a funny av. Not a redtext or an own ok.
It's weird how the police just sit on this bodyswapping machine and only use it sometimes to peep someone's dream. Like this poo poo would pretty much turn the entire society upside down, and they keep it in a basement like it's nothing. I also don't get why Saito swapped with Falco in the first place.

Irony Be My Shield

I think they were trying to cover it up after they bungled an attempt to use it to let a serial killer cop get away with murder. The police were insanely corrupt and incompetent but never got punished, and that's what makes this the most believable Uchikoshi game yet

I just finished this tonight. I think the way they handled Aiba coming back could have been better. Her cloud backups were deleted, but there were still fragments of her data out there that were put back together? I thought that it was going to be that when Boss knocked you out and hooked you up to the psync machine, that they were extracting your memories of Aiba and using those to reconstruct her. I think that would have been more interesting, but maybe that's just because it's my idea.

Also, I really liked Iris's conspiracy theories about the Wadjet system and Naix. I don't know if that was an original idea or they cribbed that from somewhere, but the idea of an AI manipulating civilizations to spread itself throughout the universe was interesting and could be a game plot of its own.

One of my favorite little details was that when you look at the glossary database thing the entry for Freemasons (I think, it might've been Illuminati) it is just plastered with Eyes of Providence.

My favorite thing was finding out that there was actually another prototype machine in the world and it was being developed by... the Chiba Police Department?

My interpretation of it was that Iris' conspiracy theories were at least somewhat correct and that Aiba reconstituted herself through the magic of Naix. Also I personally think that Aiba came back almost immediately but held off on telling Date so she could recruit everyone to rehearse a song and dance number for three months.

I read it as the Naix system actually existed in some form and it had hidden backups of various parts of Aiba's programming and data all over the Internet without anyone knowing about it.

I don't know about incompetent, but a lot of what happens feels like it's a direct result of the police department higher-ups not wanting to lose face in the eyes of the public.

Still watching the ending to this, the "I'm home" "Welcome back" ("tadaima"/"okaeri", naturally) destroys me every single time. Uchikoshi mentioned in some interviews that he trusted the team he was working with more on this game, so maybe that is why it has such a strong emotional core while still delivering the twists you'd expect from his work? Whatever the reason, it's just a really good game, a huge leap forward from the Zero Escape series which I liked a lot.

Holy poo poo I just finished this game today, uchikoshi still got it! I can't imagine anyone who enjoyed any of his prior works wouldn't enjoy this. It has exactly more to expect and I appreciate it's a little more grounded this time.

After paying $40 or less for each of his prior games it was a little painful paying full price for AI but it's worth it and I reassure myself that every bit of full price sales will help him get to his next game.
