Brent had a brief moment of realization but that isn’t going to make him a good person in and of itself. They pointed out that the important thing was that he had become better by the end of the test even if he was still a long way from being good.

I just rewatched the Time Knife one, and Jason convinces the Judge to take a tour of Earth to see how hosed up it is with a story about his dance crew. He’s also got a certain zen quality to his personality in that he’s utterly incapable of thinking more than 1 step ahead. He exists completely and totally within the present moment and that moment is the only one that matters to him at all times. It’s not a fluke that he was first introduced as a buddhist monk.
