His lines are starting to get a little sloppy, but he's still putting up splits that would have crushed the records

UCI Gravel is weird. Lapping dudes on the little singletrack section is going to suck.

Some American had a stem that had to be at least 160mm

I actually really like this urban gravel course, and would like more of this in my own life, rather than the blasted desert hellscape that I usually ride gravel in.

it was ok, the main problem of course was letting a break like that go out over to five minutes

Cycling is a natural home for sportswashing of petrochem companies and states. Zero emissions sport (if you ignore everything outside of the riders), lots of lovely scenery to look at, relatively cheap to get top billing on something.

Disused oil and gas roads are often great for gravel riding so it’s good that Shell is getting in just as the UCI is staring up gravel, it all just makes sense

It's actually longer than that, it's like the TDF PDBF 2020 stage with some flat before the climb.

Queen stage looks lovely too. It actually has the potential to be a fun race if Evenopoel isn't the strongest climber in the race, as unlike the Vuelta there's some actual mountain stages.

It looks like a great climb and it will be a serious challenge but it's always so much more fun to watch them race together than a TT. I want to be able to see the gap because somebody's going up the road and somebody else can't hold the wheel, not the announcers guessing at time gaps.

Personally I am not psyched on the route. The first two weeks are almost entirely for sprinters and breakaways and the last week is so hard that they'll probably race cautiously for fear of blowing up too early.
