Tonight's the Night

In lieu of racing, the Movistar documentary on Netflix is pretty good.

Christ, I think there needs to be a new form of barrier for the last 20m of sprints. The barrier they use has almost no give and it 2020 there should be something that decelerates riders gradually

Just make a 200m tunnel of inflatable arches to softly cushion the riders like an airbag.

e: ^^^ if Jakobsen managed to avoid a TBI he’s incredibly lucky

Heliosicle posted:

Can't access the apparent source, but read that they were able to intubate Jakobsen and his blood oxygen saturation levels were good, but he lost a lot of blood and has serious craniocerebral trauma.

In the fan video, you can see that Jakobsen loses his helmet after hitting the first set of barriers, before he hits the finish arch (or ground).

cebrail posted:

I think they had that same road in a previous TdP and it’s insane that they’re still having it. Bunch sprint finishes are dangerous to begin with, don’t make them loving downhill.

Apparently:

So in his last 3 stage races Roglic has lost two of them on the final day and it could have been 3/3 if Movistar hadn’t paced him up Alto de la Covatilla to spite Carapaz.

It looks like the Giro is being carried by GCN+ this year rather than Flo. I've been trying to figure out how much it costs. None of the pages on the site about the subscription list the price--you have to create an account first in order to see how much it costs. Do any of you subscribe to this already? It looks like I can just get one month for the Giro. The Tour and Vuelta are on NBC Sports.

I just got a discount code from USAC good for a year for $35 - USCY51T9DP.

The bump came from Ewan trying to force Sagan off his line behind Merlier’s wheel. Ewan then wound up half-wheeling Merlier on the right and getting chopped when Merlier launched his sprint on the inside of the corner - I don’t see how you put that on Sagan.
