nine-gear crow posted:The one-two punch of Arrow ending and taking the tentpole out the whole CWverse with it and COVID-19 really seems like it's derailed everything at this point. I was looking forward to Black Lightning being a part of the bigger universe too and now, well, poo poo. It's more a Netflix thing than a Covid thing, hence the spinoff. Warner doesn't want Netflix getting any more of that sweet sweet streaming money, so they're renewing all the shows up to their streaming content stipulations and then shuttering them. (Hence shows like In The Dark and The Outpost getting renewed, despite nobody watching them -- and the latter being incredibly poo poo.) The shows that stick around will be the ones the CW can't really do without, i.e. The Flash, and even that probably won't make it past Season 8. If they're smart they'll use it for the other shows they're setting up, and transition to Superman and Lois being the centre of the new iteration of the franchise.
