How can there not be a VR game where you just fly around like a bird? I just bought a goon's quest, loaded up the store and there's nothing there for flying just for chill. I'm completely new to vr but drat I'd have thought that would be a no brainer.

The pressure point thing works, but I dunno if the band works. When I gotta prep for a colonoscopy and I have to drink that horrible liquid and keep from puking, I always end up pushing that point on my forearms and the nausea goes away. Hot flashes go as well, so bonus. Looking at simpleplanes but it's there a demo or something to try first? Bought that new dart game but holy gently caress do I suck at that one. Might be my first return.

Do you have to have to have the oculus30 code mailed to you or is it just for anything on the Oculus store?

Anyone know if there's a big diff between superhot VR on PC and it on oculus quest? Played the demo and liked it. It's a lil cheaper on steam though.

Lunchmeat Larry posted:Haa anyone played the games in the current Fanatical bundle ( https://www.fanatical.com/en/bundle/fanatical-quest-vr-bundle ), recommended? It looks like a good range of experiences but I'm currently completely unable to tell good VR offerings from shovelware garbage I snagged the bundle and sculptvr is neat, zombie land is surprisingly fun (rail shooter), but I haven't had the chance to try anything else out.

Welp, death lap kinda sucks. Not because of motion sickness but because the controls are just the weirdest way I can imagine trying to control a car.

Yea, learned that from playing the superhot demo and getting repeatedly shot in the face/neck because I have the reflexes of a drunk sloth. Wiggling the blade near a training remote is fun though. There was some vr game, blade and something or swordsmanvr? that had a star wars mod with some cool looking saber effects and fighting. Haven't had a chance to really research it yet though. Oh yea, on that quest bundle, the skyward brawl game or whatever it's called is just like Yugi oh but with medieval knights and spells. There's a single match against the ai, and then you play publicly. I didn't enjoy it much. So far sculptvr and the zombie land game are the fun ones of the group.

Even playing decent on a PC made me queasy. I can't even imagine that working out well in VR. Found a few weird, creepy things in accounting+. Fun game. Kinda short, but at least it keeps you wondering "what the gently caress?"

Weird random thought, but I'm guessing there's not much of a scene for VR since it's fairly specialized and for specific hardware. Tried that "don't touch anything" game but even though it says it's for sitting, there's poo poo going on behind you and no way to turn the view other than to turn your body. I guess by sitting they mean on a stool or office chair or something. Least the refund policy is good.

# ¿ Dec 30, 2021 23:13 |

drat, I'm surprised. I thought with it being special hardware, it'd be way more "exclusive" I guess. I guess it's just the idea it's based off a thing that not a lot of people have, like comparing consoles numbers vs a speciality headset that's self contained. Not advocating piracy, support your makers unless they are EA. Like I said, random thought while I was waiting for my cane's order.

Well, since it almost took an act of god to get an Xbox or PlayStation, I'm guessing most parents just got what they could, and oculus was pretty easy to find. "Sorry son, couldn't find the PS5 but here's some virtual reality and drive cash for games!" And they still come out ahead on saving some money. Also, the room vr is amazing and I love it and everyone needs to play it but holy gently caress there's an organ playing puzzle and I'm ready to stab the creative team because of it. I kinda love it and hate it cause I spent a good 15 mins looking for some kinda handle to move poo poo before I realized "oh yea, I have hands" and the poo poo worked and I felt dumb.

Potentially very dumb question, but are all games on the oculus compatible with all the oculus sets? Like Go, Rift, Quest, etc? Edit - I realize this is like asking if all nintendo games are compatible with all nintendos, just curious if there's like some sort of backwards compatibility. There's some on the rift and go I'd like to play but don't wanna waste the cash if it's a no go.

Just wondering, but when it comes to Virtual Desktop, if I have a quest, is the best one to buy the one in the quest store? The one listed on steam just literally says NOT FOR QUEST in the description, so I'm guessing that's a big clue not to buy it.

Red Matter is actually pretty fun. It's got the ambiance of a The Room game where it's just loving weird and unnerving, but there isn't any jump scare bullshit (so far). You can choose between walking and using your suit thrusters to move around, and you research what the hell happened to make the not Russians leave their Saturn moon base.

Oh poo poo, finished red matter and it's actually pretty awesome. Good puzzles, great atmosphere, one fucker of an ending. Thinking about a battery pack though. Any for the Oculus that are STAY AWAY YOU WILL SET YOUR HEAD ON FIRE or anything that's just agreed upon to be "the best"?

I'd avoid project terminus. God that was a disappointment. From not being able to figure out how to drink something, to not being able to pick poo poo up off the floor because the game assumes you want your cell phone instead, it's just an exercise in frustration.

Man, playing Lies Beneath on casual and still getting my rear end stomped. Fun game though. Only downside that there's a max ammo for the handgun, and that's kinda stupid cause your character is wearing like 3 layers of clothes at least. Bullets ain't that big, stuff em in your socks if you gotta. Beats getting killed by some kinda demon bird or zombie thingie.

Had to laugh. Started playing Arizona sunshine on the quest and it has you calibrate by putting your hands where you waist is so you can holster correctly. I was sitting down, and now I'm like loving ben shapiro running around blasting zombies that I barely come up to the waist on. Car door handles are eye level. I honestly don't know if I want to recalibrate out not, cause this is hilarious.

Wilkins Micawber posted:I like the whole coins popping out of people, but you could go next level and make the models have gold guts inside, too. So they crack open/get dismembered a bit, like a pinata, but it's merely a bit of exposed golden jello in the head or whatever. A pool of gold can spread out, optionally. Or, make the insides look delicious somehow. I am not a game designer. Agreed. Either go incredibly gory where it's overkill, or go the absurd route. Either way I'm in. I had to laugh when I saw they were coming out with a Twilight zone game. 99% of that show had the protagonist being an rear end in a top hat and getting their karmic rewards. That's gonna be a damned hard line to stay on and keep enjoyable.

Completely loving stunned the blair witch game for the Oculus is actually good. Better than the movie, anyway, but I hated those regardless. Plus you get a dog companion you can pet and give treats to.

God damnit, I take back what I said about Blair witch. They waited until a near end of the game mission to gently caress it up so bad, so I can't even get a refund cause I have like 5 hours in the game. Big spoiler if you absolutely gotta know they kill off the dog. not quick, but instead they have it get hurt (chasing after something and it falls off a cliff in the fog) and it slowly dies as you run around carrying it in a neverending loop, until you get to the option to lay it down and can't move any longer. loving dick move. I hate animal death in any media, but this was especially lovely. Also the QA on this kinda sucked cause I've clipped into poo poo a few times where I've gotten stuck and had to quit and restart the game. Maybe paranormal activity will be more fun?

Found a game on the quest called glitch assassin. It's kinda like superhot meets serious Sam in a way. Shiny faceted bad guys shooting at you but also red ones that haul rear end towards you to explode. Basically you get a gun and reload it and run around various locations (i.e. point and teleport) to shoot bad guys. Whopping $2.50 though, and there's a demo on steam. I just bought the quest version off that sideload page.

I do most of mine sitting down so mostly I'm frustrated by either the game assuming I'm short, or me trying to reach down into my mattress to grab poo poo on what the headset thinks is my waist but it's actually about 3 inches into my bed, while under fire from enemies. I'd get the swing but I'm fat and I'm pretty sure I'd end up collapsing the roof somehow.

Is there a good add on gun handle for the quest, or at least a version not to get? I can shoot well in real life but in vr, holy poo poo I'm bad at this. I think it's because of the way the controller fits in my hand vs a gun. Just didn't know if there was a go to, or a "just light your money on fire, it'll work better than that" option.

Perestroika posted:Is this just about the angle of the grip in general or specifically for two-handed guns? If the latter, I just recently got the Magtube for my Vive to I'm really happy with it. It's frankly overpriced for what's essentially a couple tubes and holders, but it does the job well. Also feels quite immersive to actually have to wrangle around a roughly rifle-length thing in reality while you're playing. Angle of the grip. Apparently when I use the controller I'm pointing ever so slightly to the right and left with my respective hands. I don't do that when I'm shooting a gun. Just a weird grip shape causing it I guess.

Crap. Sounds cool, but I'm the only one of my friends to have a gaming PC and VR.
