FreelanceSocialist posted:Speaking of buying headsets - Valve needs to hurry up and get more shipments of Index sent out. I've been on the waitlist for like 4 weeks My Index order went from 3 weeks to "preparing for shipping" this week. There were similar reports on r/ValveIndex so I guess they got a big shipment in or something.

I just checked and I put in my initial order (through Steam as mentioned above) on 11/19. It pretty consistently went from 5-4-3 weeks until yesterday when I got the notification they send you to complete payment. And now I have a FedEx delivery for Saturday. Over at Reddit they have a spreadsheet where people are tracking their progress, you can use it to get a sense of how fast things are getting shipped out. When I put in my order last month I figured I'd get it in January based on that sampling. It's in their megathread at the top: https://www.reddit.com/r/ValveIndex/comments/imgowe/availabilityorder_megathread/

Well, I got my Index but got the red blinking light on one of the base stations Steam support was helpful though, no fuss, and there's already another one in the mail.

FreelanceSocialist posted:I've seen HoloFit mentioned, as well. I'd also like to hear about bike apps. Both of those (VZFit, Holofit) are subscription based, and if you want to use a cadence sensor it has to pair with your headset (and I have an Index so that's out). Holofit says it supports tethered headsets but I wonder how that works without the sensor. My digging didn't really lead to anything else that looked good for me, unfortunately. If you have a Quest and don't mind paying a monthly sub I suppose you'd be fine though.

Restarting it will show green, but after 10 seconds its back to red. Like literally every google result is "message valve for an RMA". This seriously can't be the only solution, can it? Assuming you mean a base station for an Index or Vive, yep, you need to RMA it. Same thing happened to me. They respond pretty fast though, I had a new one within a week even during the holidays.

Lockback posted:Yeah, the lack of melee is glaring. Valve said they had it for a long time during development but didn't feel like it was working for them. I guess it's better not having it than having it ruin the game but it does feel like it's missing. If you put a VR Half-Life red crowbar in my hand I am automatically going to swing it like crazy. I'm guessing Valve did not want people smashing their surroundings in that way. It's just too tempting. Thus the gunplay instead.
