I've watch multiple reviews on Youtube, where the person reviewing the Rift S, wore glasses and never even commented on it being an issue.

I am very conflicted about which VR headset I want to get. None of their websites cover my use cases for one, which would pretty much exclusively be playing simulations; DCS World, iRacing, Elite Dangerous, and eventually Microsoft Flight Sim when that gets VR. I need to be able to use relevant controllers for each of these. So a racing wheel, joystick, and Yoke controller are things that have to be compatible. Ideally a vr headset with as few cables as possible, and no base stations for head movement, and the use of motion controllers is obviously a no go, they wont work for what I want to play. I realize I am very much not the typical use case here. Would I just be wasting money?

Sounds like the Oculus is basically what you want though; cheaper and no base stations. Maybe try to get a cheap VIVE if you don't care about the motion controllers at all, but then you need base stations.

Thank you for all of this advice! This is super helpful and way more informative than what the official websites for these devices present, which is to just show you VR being used entirely standing up, in a large open room, and swinging your arms around at very casual games. It sends a weird message, at least in my mind, about what VR can actually be used for and I was under the impression there was maybe some serious limitations are more complex stuff. Resolution is going to be the most important to me, making sure whatever I play looks as good as possible.

As far as I've heard MFS doesn't actually support trips so you have to kinda hack it in with wide resolution? Course it doesn't support VR either so that's kinda irrelevant.

Yeah MFS currently doesnt support it, hacked in even it doesn't look good. The sim launched very unfinished, its been kinda frustrating.

Honestly the Chinese-sponsored part isn't even the actual reason TikTok is being banned, it's because President Cheeto Face's Klan rally from a few months back was disrupted by American users on TikTok.

if you're getting the Quest 2, don't forget that you also do not get the PC connector with it, you have to drop another $80 for that cable.

I am still holding out for the HP Reverb G2 which while twice as expensive as the Quest 2, appears to be superior and makes no compromises. Plus Mark Zuccerberg does not have direct access to your eye balls everytime you put the device on on your head.

anyways i've had my reverb G2 preordered since july and everything I've seen since just makes me want it more and more, you should all just pre-order now and sell it if it's not for you, you'll probably make a pretty penny

I want to pre-order, but I also want to know the exact release date first. :saddowns:

it's looking likely that it'll be the end of october, atleast according to the person i spoke with for their US distributor

worth it I'd say if you don't want the FB headset or to wait until the first restock in 2021

The site doesn't show as out of stock right now, so if I were to pre-order I should get the headset in October? Can't decide what to do, I guess that since I know I really want this headset, I should just go ahead and do it, but I always feel iffy pre-ordering stuff without first knowing when its even going to release.

[edit]
I went ahead and pulled the plug on pre-ordering. I am excited to get my first ever VR headset.

MY REVERB G2 SHIPPED!!! :toot: Trying to think of what I want to install this weekend on my PC to get ready. I am a simulation heavy user. Right now I have Elite Dangerous, DCS World, and iRacing installed. I finished Star Wars Squadron already, but VR is suppose to be really good for that, so I might want to replay that again or do multiplayer.

I am having trouble with my Reverb G2. Positive I have everything plugged in correctly. Plugged into the RTX 2070, is the Display Port, and USB-C cable, and then plugged the power cable into a power adapter, the light turns on. I tried the USB C to A adapter, no good there too.

G2 is finally on its way in Australia, got a email saying estimate is the 23rd.

Cannot wait.

I am enjoying my G2 a lot but am having trouble with getting a consistent and reliable experience. Sometimes i've had to restart my PC to get my G2 to work at all, and getting games to work with it, especially if they don't support Windows Mixed Reality, is sometimes a pain. The G2 is suppose to be compatible with both SteamVR, and WMR, but my experience so far is that its SteamVR support is a crapshoot if it will work or not. It could also just be the games too, titles with both 2D and VR support seem to have the most trouble. And there may just be something on my end that I need to figure out in order to get VR working properly more consistently, cause right now i'm having to trouble shoot a lot even with games I got working before, but then I fire them up again and they just don't work all of a sudden.
