Special formatting request: Please only list the name of the person you are voting for from each match-up. This will be easier for me to count than bolding names from match-ups. I can work around this if necessary, but if you can vote by just listing the name of your choice, that would be great. You can abstain from votes. You are not required to list that vote as ‘abstain,’ you just need to skip it. Tomohiro Ishii Finished 2nd in Favorite Active Wrestlers thread Eliminated in Round 4 of 2017 WH-128 by Kenny Omega Eliminated in Round 3 in 2015 by Adam Cole Eliminated in Round 2 in 2013 by Kevin Steen The Stone Pitbull is defying age by continuing to put on tremendous matches every time he steps in the ring. The MVP of the 2019 G1 Climax, everyone he faced he one of their best matches of the tournament with him, if not their best performance. A key part of the New Japan card, he could easily be the IWGP World Champion is given the chance. Tomohiro Ishii It's funny to me that our two finalists are both old: Ishii debuted in '96 for WAR, Suzuki debuted for New Japan in 1988. A 44 year old against a 51 year old. Anyway. It's Ishii. He doesn't really have the look. He doesn't have the charisma. He just wrestles hard. Every July & August when G1 is on, Tomohiro Ishii is delivering banger after banger and has done since 2013. Omega, Ibushi, Goto, Naito, SANADA last year, Takagi, Naito, Cobb, Moxley, Juice, Knife Pervert, Taichi this year, sure, his opponents are some of the best in the world but he elevates them. There's not many moments that are more memorable to me in wrestling in 2019 than Big Tam leaping from the top rope to a table on the floor, crashing through it and Moxley. poo poo is dope. KungFu Grip posted:shocked Mox only got 7 votes I mean, he went against the wrestler of the decade. If hadn't lost to Ishii in a one-sided manner I'd be very irrationally upset.

Tomohiro Ishii I actually had to think long about this one. I adore them both, but in the past couple of years I'll always watch an Ishii match versus only catching Suzuki matches that get good reviews. Suzuki is the superior character, but goddamn I watched every Ishii match in the G1 this year and I can't say that about anyone else.
