Go ahead and buy Trombone Champ. It's so much fun struggling with intonation as well as rhythm, and fuckups on the trombone sound hilarious.

Goofy rhythm game, pretty sure this one is goon-made? $15, 100% positive with 17 reviews.

Terrible game. Has an obscene amount of glissandos when in reality these are really rare in actual trombone play. Do not recommend if you are looking for an authentic trombone gaming experience.

Copying over my post from the Farm/Fight/FuFish thread:

New game out - Potion Permit!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1337760/Potion_Permit/

So, if you don't want to listen to me babble, it has a free demo you can download and try for yourself. Biggest warning: it's absolutely designed for controller support, and has no mouse support. So if you want to use kb+m, you need to get used to using the WASD keys for movement and JKL keys for inputs, where J and K are your main buttons.

It's a standard Harvest Moon/Stardew Valley plot so far: welcome to the town where you're taking over a ruined building to establish yourself and make friends with all of the townsfolk! The big difference is that you're not farming - you're doctoring! Er, medicining? Herbing? Eh, whatever, you're gathering ingredients from the local forest and using them to make potions to sell for loot that you will immediately re-invest into decorations to make your shabby home less obivously-filled-with-holes. The second big difference so far is that at the start of the game, people actively hate you: you're following in the footsteps of the previous chemist who came here from the big city, and apparently he hosed everything up in a big way, so there's a lot of potential for interesting plot or maybe it just gets washed over once you get enough mini-games done, dunno, I haven't gotten through all of the demo yet.

But those minigames are a big draw. Obviously, you're foraging and fighting just like in HM/SV, and there doesn't seem to be anything special or interesting about that, it's an HM/SV clone, not an ARPG or Zeldalike. But making potions is a puzzle where you're placing pieces into a grid to cover spaces, and there are limits around what kinds of pieces you can use and how many of them. Likewise, diagnosing patients has a button-timing mini-game, and of course there's a fishing game. So there's plenty to do that seems to require more thinking and planning than just hitting buttons to shove seeds in the ground. yes i know hm and sv have a lot going on in planning and allocating resources and energy that is very thought intensive and why those games are a lot of fun and talked about in the management thread

Reviews so far are mostly positive, with the main complaint being the complete lack of mouse support for menus. Also some people complaining that there is no cat option, you must have a dog.

For people looking for a new SV/Harvest Moon, I found the villagers to be utterly unlikeable (above and beyond plot reasons for them not liking the MC). That's a big part of the draw for these kinds of games, so definitely try the demo first.

Thinking about it, I don't think I've ever cared about any of the characters in these games - unless they're all on the level of rear end in a top hat as Shane was, that is.

Certainly one of the better FPSs out there. It carries the tradition of games like quake by having highly geometric level geography and a fully functioning map editor to boot.
I may edit this post later to give more impressions of what has changed since the earlier versions, but as it stands it seems as if they updated the main campaign to the point where my old saves no longer work, and they really changed the introduction of this one from what I remember.

I played a few hours last night. Very jank, but fun. Quick thoughts:
- Extremely hostile PvP is pretty frequent.
- You definitely want friends.
- Enemies are meatsacks. They need to tone the mobs health waaaaaay down.
- The economy and progression mechanics aren't implemented.

The ranger can help if it is leveled up as it can track people and hear foot steps farther away. The wizard and rogue have invisibility but the wizard can do a lot of front end damage. These seem to be the better ones to do.

But I have also seen a warrior go to town with a two handed sword.

Really it is more about how you play solo and ok with taking a lot of losses until you get one win so you can afford healing items.

Like turning off torches where you are is a good thing unless you have bright healing potions on your belt. There is a rogue perk that hides them which can help.

Staying at the edge of the map can be rough since a lot of 3 man teams will camp it hoping to score kills.

Closing doors behind you helps but takes a lot of time unless you are a rogue who can do it faster.

But the biggest thing here is sound. Your fighting, your walking with shoes, your opening chests. All of these actions need to be done with risk.
