Not sure how you managed to connect Hypnospace Outlaw and Broken Reality, but as far as I know they are made by two entirely different companies. Also Broken Reality has a few game breaking softlocks that will never be fixed as it appears the devs have abandoned the game for years.

Full Bore is legitimately one of the best games I have ever played. The start is a bit rocky but once the business with the Samophlange is taken care of the game really kicks it into gear.

I put in a couple hours tonight and I’m really liking it! I dig the art style, the writing is funny enough for a video game, and the gameplay is solid so far.

It reminds me a lot actually of Illusion of Gaia, except instead of swapping between three different forms there’s a whole bunch and they all feel fairly unique. Each form has little quests to do that teach you how they play and ranking up unlocks new forms along a tree.

Not sure what the negative Chinese reviews are about but as someone who’s been playing stuff like PoE and Siralim it doesn’t seem like it will even get close to being “grindy.”

Hmm. Well I played it, and I have to say I disagree. No technical issues for me at least (it may be something effecting older Intel CPUs or ones common in China maybe), and it doesn't really seem grindy at all. There are gated parts where you need a certain number of stars to pass through (from doing 'quests' which are really just achievement style things like hit this many enemies with the sword, poison this many enemies with the rat teeth, etc.) but from what I can tell having to repeat areas is not that common. Even if it does happen the combat is fun and interesting so it's not a big deal. As long as you are always working towards the quests it shouldn't be grindy at all.

I didn't get to the combining powers part, I still only have four forms, but what I saw I liked. Nice colorful visuals and a creative and sometimes funny story/lore.

At first I REALLY didn't like that you can only move in four directions, I'm used to free movement with one stick and aiming with the other. But once I learned how to lock my direction that helped so so much.

So yeah, for those who asked I recommend it although whether to buy it right away, later during a sale or never is your call.

Anyways, finally there are some new games that look like they might worth a poo poo!!

Well, most of the quests are "hit 200 enemies with a sword, then do it again with a bigger target number". If forms level up to A or S, which seems to be the case, there is going to be a lot of monotonous killing to do. I can understand that being a problem. I'm on Level D of most forms, so I can't really tell how much the target number will balloon.

Most of those quests simply serve to get you to use your new found abilities, so stop appearing. They become much more complex as you level up your form. I'd be very surprised if "hit something with your sword 50000 times" appeared at A-S. It would be much more likely to be "hit 5 stunned enemies in one hit with dark damage", and you'd maybe have to do that twice.

Yeah, Astalon is basically La-Mulana, but for people who don't want to either follow a guide or descent into corkboard conspiracy theory spirit quests to solve puzzles. It's really good! And the parts that aren't particularly good and feel obnoxious early on pretty much go away as you unlock abilities and items.

This one is actually pretty drat good. The magic swords you can shoot at enemies and then call back is a fantastic mechanic, and the gameplay feels really tight.

I doubt I'll play it that much, there's a huge metaupgrade system that seems like it would take an insane number of hours to fill out. Which is unfortunate. But the gameplay is great and anyone looking for a cool and unique action roguelike should definitely check it out.

Didn't like Q, it just doesn't feel good to play in my opinion.
