This indie game Airborne Kingdom just came out and seems real neat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wfr9PHKb_RI Its a city builder like Sim City or Caesar but your city is floating so you can move it around to gather resources, but you also have to manage how you build it so it stays floating

Valheim looks promising, the art style is good and will let them add more to the game quickly, but I've been burned too much on those styles of games. Like ARK or Conan or Rust or DayZ, those games tend to get pushed out with basically zero content with the hopes that PVP will offer enough gameplay, and it never does. Cardiovorax posted:It looks like one of those "could be really good five years from now" EA games. Yeah definitely will have to check in on this in like, a year.

Yeah, they aren't always labeled as early access and even when they are, its like an alpha test that just bores you on the game concept. Better to wait until there's more done.

Superhot Tactics has been looking real slick for awhile now, may have to try it. I do have to say though having "cards" in a videogame is a pet peeve. Why not just call them "moves" or "attacks" instead?? Why does everything have to be cards? Tabletop games use cards because you need a physical thing, you don't need that in videogames stop calling them cards!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ry5N2UNZKsc New Crazy Taxi style game just dropped and I haven't seen anybody talking about it, but it looks pretty rad. Its on consoles too! Thoom posted:"Cards" have the important property that you draw them randomly from a deck and keep them in your hand until you use them. That's important semantic information that calling them "moves" doesn't carry. I don't buy this, there's plenty of games with cards with conflicting rules of how things work, so you can't make any real assumptions just because they're "cards". Even things like drawing or shuffling aren't consistent across games, and those same concepts are extremely easy to grok as "you get 3 random spells per turn" or whatever instead of "draw 3 cards". It just feels uninventive. Although I may also have personal distaste for it based on how many games turn cards into extremely exploitative microtransactions.
