I need the movie to hit Crunchyroll yesterday. Chainsaw Man, please eat the Delayed Release Devil.

feel like the movie is gonna lead to a lot of disappointed people when they realise reze only shows up once more as another body in a crowd of weapon hybrids and then never again

her last scene in part 1 is pretty definitive, I didn't expect to see her again when I read it. I'm reasonably certain that the vocal fandom will move on to quanxi and the girls whenever int. assassins gets adapted

yeah, imo that's part of drama of the reveal with the hybrids-- anime-only folks know hybrids don't really die but also know makima is probably gonna make sure reze isn't coming back and she is still coming back just like nayuta stuker fucked around with this message at 19:33 on Dec 12, 2025 |

At this point in the story I'm sure how you can even insert Reze back into the plot without seeming hackneyed, but Fujimoto can always Fujimoto.

My pet theory is that we are basically at the end of Part 2 dealing with War and there will be Part 3 which will begin with

I could see a pretty brutal curve ball with Fami becoming empowered suddenly. There's no death, is there no hunger anymore? OK, but nobody dies so who gets fed, so... I dunno, it's Chainsaw Man. There's always an exciting new hellworld. A spot of cannibalism, you can never die so you've got cells burning in the stomach. Or maybe nobody dies, things don't digest, a planet of the eternally starving. Could include a callback to Makima's fate, imagine if Denji hears that voice coming from his gut, hah. Goofy spitballing sure but that's what makes the setting so fun, it's hard to predict anything and nearly any direction is valid.

yeah, i would be very surprised if there isn't a plan for part 3 sorta reminds me of ppl thinking dandadan was on a final-ish arc a few months ago, there are definitely off-ramps to conclude the series but i don't think there's a lot of evidence this is intended to be the conclusion. the world is basically ending, just like part 1. there was very little to indicate part 2 was going to happen at the time imo those sort of offramps are sometimes just baked in because you never know when your editor tells you things need to wrap up, but it's hard for me to imagine that with the success of the movie stuker fucked around with this message at 20:31 on Dec 12, 2025 |

Denji would never forget his promise to his best friend Power. He is a high school educated genius so he definitely remembers.

The movie just out-grossed the Pokemon movie from 1998. One imagines there is a massive pile of sentient yen at this point demanding More Chainsaw Man.ImpAtom posted:They're pretty firmly in endgame territory unless there's a massive twist or a third part. There is so much unexplored territory left in this world—and so many potential diabolus ex machina available off-screen—that I’m genuinely curious how you reached this conclusion. Not that Fujimoto couldn’t wrap it up here, but it’d be structurally ugly to me. Denji’s story requires him actually coming of age, and while he’s play-acted at that, we’re still a ways off. Plus, two parts is bad. Three is much better number of parts. I feel like five, one for each horseman and a finale about Chainsaw Man himself, would be ideal here. Shakespearian, even! But the yen devil in the Shueisha CEO’s office may demand more.

Speaking if the film, this is cool: https://x.com/i/status/1999016566382637452 "someone pointed out this really cool detail in the movie. the lights in the buildings change every time there's a cut, looking like a countdown to the part where the Reze and denji finally starts to fight. bravo yoshihara."

ImpAtom posted:I'm not convinced the manga will still be running a year from now. They're pretty firmly in endgame territory unless there's a massive twist or a third part. If Part 1 was about the highs and lows of forming bonds (Family is great but it hurts like gently caress when they're gone) and part 2 is about high levels of self actualisation (Denji finding some synthesis between being Denji and being CSM) I don't yet see where part 3 would go. Like, we can pull events out our asses all day but I struggle to see a thematic continuation right now. And yeah, Lil D isn't staying eaten. Fujimoto loves having hosed up immortality but he also loves an acceptance of the end/only torturing a few especially funny immortals.
