Yeah, I feel like War's problem is Makima did away with a bunch of the related fears that helped prop it up in the public consciousness. People know about war as a general concept, but the likelihood of dying in a war (compared to what it used to be) has gone way, way down, so it's not something most people have on their minds. Seriously, even in our world (with all its geopolitical tensions and keyboard doomers), the odds of dying in a war for most people are lower than they've been for most of human history; and we get to remember the last major war, the nukes, the Nazis, everything. War got a downgrade, and is probably pissed.

Looking forward to Denji going on a series of dates with Asa and they keep getting interrupted by devils who want to kill him, but Asa doesn't think Chainsawman is cool so he won't transform cause he doesn't wanna blow his chance to score and we get a zany chase scene instead of a fight.

I can see it in my mind's eye. Denji likes girls but doesn't know anything about romance (or Asa), so he leafs through some Shoujo manga at a Book Off and cribs all the best-sounding date ideas and Asa hates all of them. Finally, exasperated, she asks him just to take her someplace he wants to go instead, and they end up watching lobsters fight at a seafood market or something and that's when she falls for him.

I know we were prepped to hate the fake Chainsaw Man from the beginning (if nothing else due to the fact he's a fake), but it's incredible how quickly that last page makes him turn the corner from "Eh, this guy's probably a weasel" to "Wow, what a prick."

I also wonder if Denji just can't conceive of anything he'd want to buy for himself beyond basic amenities, and he's "Too stupid" for anything more ambitious than the life he already leads, so of course it's all for Nayuta's sake, what else does he have to live for? Which is (comically, but also heartbreakingly) why it's so easy for him to just give it all to Asa in exchange for the nebulous promise of affection.

I don't know much about dogs, but I always appreciated a detail someone else pointed out to me: huskies are very friendly, but they're also incredibly noisy and difficult to control. That Makima owns like seven and they're all well-behaved is a great bit of foreshadowing.
