As a podcast topic I would be interested to hear how his time effected his sense of identity and how his sense of identity changes the longer he is out, or it it doesnt. Also what surprises him the most as he re-acclimates - how much news on the slow change of culture gets filtered in with the new people moving in and out, what he's been warned about. Interestingly he enough he’s more caught up on politics and world events than my mom or my younger brother. He read every newspaper and magazine allowed, so right now the biggest thing is mostly just explaining phones and apps and stuff like that. His cousin called and my mom handed him her phone and he just stared at it like “I have no idea what to do with this, it has no buttons”. He’s very excited to hit the gym with me today and get a fresh pair of Basketball shorts. We spent a lot of time talking about movies, surprisingly (or not) but Shawshank Redemption is his favorite movie of all time because of its portrayal of institutionalization.

I wanted to make the "Tell him Donald Trump is president" easy-joke, but it sounds like he already knows the punchline. That'd be the biggest pod-cast question I'd have, is what level of TV, internet, publications are available to an inmate, just to keep up. Warn him about internet echo chambers for bad ideas if he is susceptible to that kind of thinking. Buy him an SA account. I'd see if he wants to go hiking, fishing, camping, or outdoorsy stuff if your family does that. I'd be so jonesing for a hike and some fishing after 20 years. Always good to hear a family is back together and your brother has support and a good track to go forward on. Also, food. Goddamn, has he tried sushi? Ribs sound good, but there's probably a lot of restaurant dining options now that weren't readily available 20 years ago.
