Normally, "haha this girl's a terrible cook" is such a tired anime joke that I hate, but the fact that Iruma is also bad at cooking and they then spend the rest of the chapter learning to cook together really turned this into a sweet chapter.

If you're making a stew you can go pretty wild and it's hard to make something genuinely bad, especially if you've got a variety of ingredients, but baking is quite technical and needs a reasonable degree of precision to not ruin what comes out. And this chapter was totally adorable.

Yeah boiling the poo poo out of things is literally the oldest form of cooking and is basically impossible to gently caress up, whereas baking is precise enough that adding a little too much of a specific ingredient can make the resulting product almost completely inedible.

Sullivan has probably been working on normalizing regular healthy friendships over time with the caste system being the main thing in the way, with Iruma teaching people the extra leap of 'real friends don't care what caste you are' in more explicit terms than the demons were really working with even if they were already approaching that result.
