one way or another you want to collect as many leaves as you can and put them in a big pile somewhere and leave them for three years it's literally the best compost around and it's totally free don't "leaf" it on the table!

i just dont understand why anyone would give away leaves or burn them. it's free compost. just pile it up and forget it for a while

Chinatown posted:do those giant leaf vaccum mower things actually work i don't have a giant one but i have like a reverse leaf blower that's the size of a regular leaf blower and sucks the leaves up and chops them up in a bag and then you empty it out in a big pile somewhere for compost purposes it works OK as long as the leaves are dry, if they're wet then no dice

that's a thing we talk about up here a bunch. why the hell do we have this stuff for pets but nothing for people. i read somewhere it might cause cancer after a decade or something which is pretty irrelevant for pets but who knows. as ticks continue to spread i imagine somebody will have something eventually. for the time being, tick checks, tick checks

DarkSoulsTantrum posted:Topicals work for a month on pets because they don’t bathe every day like we do (presumably) so they don’t get washed off. Ingestible tick preventative still requires the tick to bite so there’s a small chance the tick will have time to pass on whatever nastiness it’s carrying. Not showering, you say? We may be onto something here.
