It’s funny how Olivia Wilde was portrayed in the latest The Studio considering who face of AppleTV’s flagship show is.

I also laughed at the reference to her “going Fincher” and then the climax being Rogan trying to figure out what’s in the box

Ted Lasso definitely isn’t what I’d call a flagship, even though it was the most successful of the first batch.

I love that every episode so far has had a real spotlight on the director guest appearances. Actors get cameos and guest appearances all the time so it's nice they're focusing on this instead (while still featuring at least one actor per episode).

Most of them are novellas, so you can breeze through them pretty fast.

The trailer looks pretty fun, casting is a little off for me, murderbot has become a beloved non-binary icon for a reason and while Skarsgårds a great actor he is a stereotypical masculine one.

New 'The Studio' episode was consistently funny. Whatever rig they have for attaching and detaching the camera to Matt's old car is cool and the more shots like that, the more I'll love the show.

I'm 99% sure they welded a step to the car frame and the cameraman just climbed aboard and held on for dear life while Seth sent it. The camera moves were steadied but still looked completely handheld.

They should have shot this one episode on film as well.

In one of the Breaking Bad podcasts Vince Gilligan mentioned losing a reel of film when it fell out of a truck at the airport and a plane ran over it but insurance covered the reshoot. Having to fly the film to LA constantly for editing must have been a hassle but BB would not have looked so good.

New The Studio is towing the line of great cinematography and decent everything else.
The drone shot near the start and the through-the-window shot as Quinn's watching Sal's parking problems were terrific. Really hope this poo poo gets renewed as long as they can, a just-silly show with high-cinematography effort is something I never thought I needed like I know I needed now.

Another great episode of The Studio, in awe of each scene that kept escalating:
  • The long establishing shot that stitches two scenes while showing Quinn's lovely parking spot is three soundstages away.. and she still has to park further down. The Continental building apparently located where Stage 16 is in WB Studios Burbank.
  • The long takes with subtle transitions to continue emulating the oner style the series has.
  • The sudden panning transition to a sex scene to literally show Quinn's mind is elsewhere.
  • The Birdman-like drum soundtrack to most of the scenes replaced with an orchestra for the insane golf cart sequence.
Chase Sui Wonders was a standout in this ep.
