Grittybeard posted:Guys, you will be disappointed to learn as I have that Mizzou basketball is not very good. At the start of the year, they looked good. Their offense was always bad, but at least the defense was good. Now everything is bad. There's nothing they do well.

MourningView posted:They hired Martin for exactly two reasons and both of them immediately got hurt. Hey now, only one got hurt immediately and he also got hired to recruit St. Louis well. So far, he's missed out on the three best players that came out of there since he's been hired and of the two he's gotten, one transferred already and the other has gotten worse after looking pretty good at the end of last season. Things are going great! Mike_V posted:If nothing else, this has to guarantee the next hire is an offensive guy. At least make the losses fun to watch and not slogfests where the Tigers inevitably end up losing 65-53 The annoying thing is their offense would at least be efficient if people could hit the open shots it generates. Unfortunately, no one can consistently.

Mike_V posted:i think the end of the season really confirmed that mizzou's hot start was mostly because they were all juniors and seniors and had a pre-existing chemistry with one another. once everyone else got their systems settled in, the tigers played about where they were expected to in the pre-season. next year is gonna be rough if cuonzo martin doesn't bring in a talented transfer. pretty much. it might be hard to get good transfers to come in, unless X stays another year, with the best player coming back being uhhh kobe brown gonna be an exciting offseason of mizzou fans crying for porter moser, even though there is pretty much no way cuonzo is getting fired.

Asleep Style posted:Am I crazy for thinking that a lot of Cuonzos problems could be fixed by bringing in an offensively minded assistant coach? Is that an impossible ask? he has one! cornell mann brought iowa state's offense with him. they ran it year 1 and it worked because they had people that could shoot. they have had no one that can since then, so they had to switch. MourningView posted:if the problem with the coach is that he needs someone else to do the coaching for him maybe you should get someone else hiring their dad got the porter bros. cuonzo got hired to recruit st. louis and has failed miserably.

Mike_V posted:lmao Cuonzo Martin better grab a transfer who can score otherwise Mizzou is looking at another year where they probably won't even make the NIT. They have two spots, maybe another, to fill with transfers. Cuonzo has done an alright job getting ones that fill their needs. Drew Buggs was nice to have on nights when Pinson was playing poorly. There are rumors about certain former big Mizzou targets (not just Cam Fletcher) transferring, so maybe they'll land one of them.
