I like that the Russian arms dealer needed to blackmail a woman into staying with him by threatening to call the cops and tell them she sold a fake painting. Like, my guy? You're a Russian arms dealer.

I know the real reason that dumb painting was in the movie was because Nolan learned about about free port zones and the way the rich use art to launder money, and Nolan was impressed and wanted to show that lifestyle off. I guess that's what happens when you have so much money you have a separate mansion just for editing.

He is. He’s introducing himself to the protagonist for the first time, but Neil has known him for years. He knows that this introduction means their time together is coming to a close soon, and maybe even knows his own death is also soon.
