Cough Drop The Beat posted:Dyson is like the Bose of vacuums. They have some really nice stuff here and there, sure, but it's very overpriced and much of their appeal exists on marketing and external design. Dyson robo vacs are awful too, so who cares? Unlike Bose, Dyson is actually good and worth the money

The xiaomi roborock is really cool, it learns the room layout and knows where it is on the map so you can boss it around like an obedient robot slave. Also it's a blatant chinese ripoff of the american made roomba for a third of the price!

comedy option: buy a chromebook AND install linux. i did this and its amazing value for a $200 laptop that can do pretty much anything a windows can do. roombas: ?? why would anyone buy one of these? WTF? EDIT: that was harsh. I mean, why would anyone without physical or mental impairments preventing them from being able to use a broom buy one of these. I guess if you have way too much money than you know what to do with, waste your money on whatever you want, go nuts! taco season fucked around with this message at 13:50 on Nov 12, 2019 |

Pickwick High posted:Do you have stairs in your house? I myself am protected but how do Roomba do stairs? They don't. What I've got for mine is a 'base' station thing on every level of my house and just rotate it around. It runs Mon/Weds/Fri and gets moved between floors for each day. On the weekends if I feel like they need it I just use our shop vac/cannister thing to hit the stairs real quick. Yeah yeah "well you're still vacuuming!!", sure. I'd rather spend 5 minutes with the little vacuum doing the stairs than an hour or whatever doing the whole house, and this does the whole drat thing on its own for me every week and I don't have to feel like a lazy rear end for not wanting to.

Are your proposing that I buy a quasi worthless laptop and then make it more worthless by installing "Missing Driver Simulator 2000"? And this is somehow a better investment than a robot vacuum cleaner that can get under every single chair and couch in my house?

JK Fresco posted:You realize that the Shark is usually a 100% ripoff of a Dyson right Who cares? Shark build quality and design is way better than Dyson corded vacuums at this point. You can pick up a $150 (or often much less on sale) Shark Navigator and it beats the pants off any $300-400 Dyson. I won't deny that Dyson cordless stuff is drat good, but Shark is the king of corded vacuums. Dyson's most popular vacuum, the Ball Animal 2, is stupidly heavy for basically no reason except Dyson is stuck in ancient design principles too. It weighs like 6+ lbs more than a superior Shark, which totally matters when you're vacuuming a large living room and upstairs area over an afternoon or whatever.

Shark has terrible build quality and all fheir designs are tacky copies of better designs. They're literally a lovely Chinese knockoff company. They break constantly. You're also comparing a heavy duty full sized vacuum to a lighter model. Dyson makes a light corded vacuum too such as the Dyson Light Ball.
