You know, I was thinking. I wouldn't have been excited to vote for Warren, Castro, or Yang but I would have done it without a second thought. I probably could have been convinced to vote for an empty suit like O'Rourke or any of those other identical white men who bought a seat in congress and thought that was proof they deserved to be president. You probably could have gotten me to vote for Pete Buttigieg, detestable corporate Trojan Horse that he is. At least he never raped anybody, unlike the guy they threw all their weight behind.

Matt Christman-ly: fascism is the return of colonial systems of oppression to the heart of the empire in order to stabilize crumbling systems of power. If Trump represents any uniquely authoritarian nature, it is that of the return of rule by an incompetent despot loyal only to capital from the far reaches of the empire to the heart. poo poo I feel like I am doing Matt wrong there. The only thing that is uniquely Trump right now is saying out loud that he is willing to rig the election. It's not like even rigging a US election is a new thing. Hell, if Trump rigs this election it won't be the first election rigged this cycle

I've seen people say that a biden presidency will usher in a new leftist revolution but all I can think of is occupy in 2011 and how the dems coopted the 99% frame ("occupy democrats") & obama had homeland security ravage the protests, and that same summer he tried (and almost succeeded) in passing the grand bargain with congressional dems' help before the teapartiers killed it.

Shageletic posted:Dude im talking about white ppl that see us as a monolith yeah but if the democrats stopped seeing black people as some kind of monolithic hivemind entity it would could them problems. for example, the leadership of the party would have to appeal to differing subsets of black voters' material interests, and couldn't breeze by on gestures and symbolism. and if liberals stopped seeing black people as a monolith, all of the sudden a lot of these unelected NGO-affiliated 'leaders' who claim to speak on behalf of black people as a whole, or position themselves as the true/authentic voice of blackness, etc. start to seem less convincing. there are a lot of people in the political system--even those who are ostensibly to the left-of-center-- whose interests are fundamentally misaligned with any kind of nuanced analysis of black people's political beliefs, desires, and actions

Bernie knew precisely what he was doing when he ran a campaign that gave people the promise of a significant shift to the left, and then dropped-out in favor of the right-most Democrat, in order to cut a swath of the Democrat base that would then refuse to vote for his opponent, paving the way for a second Trump term and therefore an escalation of the heightened contradictions that would ultimately lead to the destruction of the Demon Cracker Nation that is the United States of America.

You probably could have gotten me to vote for Pete Buttigieg, detestable corporate Trojan Horse that he is. At least he never raped anybody, unlike the guy they threw all their weight behind. yeah honestly this too All of these people represent an attempt to fool me into thinking they're listening. Like, they represent some tiny modicum of effort at winning me over, even if they do it using platitudes and weasel words and empty signifiers. By picking them, the DNC would at least be telling me that I'm worth trying to win over, even if they have no idea how to do it and are lying to my face in their attempt. Conversely, Joe Biden is an open, unapologetic middle finger to me and everything I have ever believed in or worked for. By choosing him the DNC has told me they don't want my help or my vote or even my goodwill. They have yelled it to the rooftops. They have paid big money for a Superbowl ad consisting of Joe Biden smiling as he struggles to read the phrase "we have active contempt for SA Forums poster Loquacius, we want him to suffer, and he can kiss our wrinkly white asses" off a teleprompter. For me to give these people what they want -- my vote, my tacit agreement that they are right and this man should be president -- would be an act of unbelievable cravenness on my part, and I will not and cannot do it. I would go to my grave hating myself if I let them walk all over me. I would write in "Joker, either the one from Batman or the one from Persona 5, pick one, I don't care" before I voted for Biden. he won't even close the loving camps, he's the one who opened them he won't even take down Trump's loving wall
