okay this almost certainly does not count as "cool" but here is my nerdy bridge story. in central park there is a geocache called "bridges and arches of central park," in order to complete it you need to visit every single bridge and arch in the park (there are a couple dozenish), each of which is a unique and historic design. by gathering clues at each stage you can solve the final location, and if you do so the creator of the geocache will give you, absolutely free of charge, a rad commemorative coin designed specifically for this purpose. the coin is a work of art in itself. it can be completed in a day and by doing so you will get to lots of somewhat-hidden corners of the park and learn some history and get to see some neat architecture. I highly recommend it if, uh, that kind of thing sounds interesting to you.
