all right at the same time too, around 5:30am gmt, sure this has absolutely nothing to do with the us government hearing next week and how they expect it to go

let's see what spokespeople for crypto exchanges have to say

quote:

If anything, this is the opportunity to buy the dip for many investors who might have previously felt like they missed the boat. We can see tether bought at a premium, suggesting people are getting cash ready, within the crypto space, to do just that.

No, it generally means someone is willing to exchange, say $1.01 of Bitcoin for 1 Tether. When the price of Bitcoin is falling quickly, this kind of makes sense, at least until Tether implodes and cant be exchanged for actual money.

Russian rave band "Little Big" (you've definitely seen their Skibidi dance move) had a NFT project in the works for the past couple of weeks as part of a partnership with "Peppermint", a supposed expert in celebrity NFT collabs

The NFTs were locked behind a $10 raffle ticket which would occur December 3rd and let you pay $100 for an NFT if you were selected. Fear not, if you didn't win one of the 1,000 raffle tickets, your $10 would be automatically returned to your wallet.

... Except Peppermint never did the raffle and hasn't given any update to the buyers, the vendor (Open Sea), or even Little Big itself. Deeper diggers are now finding no evidence of Peppermint having any prior clients and no signs of an artist having commissioned 1,000 tokens

after that ep went up i remember someone in the comments got all mad about how well of course it'll look bad if you just search explicitly for the few instances of sexism, it's a big website and they're not all like that.

thing is i actually did a few cursory searches for other things while i was putting the doc together and if anything i was under-reporting the sexism by just searching for "females"

in Japan there’s a rule on the maximum payout of pachislot machines for one spin, so they go into fever mode and puke hundreds of tokens all over for multiple spins in a row, which is permissible by law

I'm guessing it's because they're trying to make it more believable that they received $1 billion of cash equivalents. If tether is currently priced at $1.0000005, then they are paying the market rate to the imaginary business that is buying these tethers.

so I say hey you want a billion tethers? and you tell me that you don't have a billion dollars to pay for them. so I say no problem, your credit is good with me. so you give me an iou for a billion dollars. that means I now have a billion dollars worth of new assets. so I issue a billion new tethers and give them to you.

but also there's no actual purpose to having an "asset" to back the tethers with since tethers can't be exchanged or redeemed for the backing asset in any way
they just say "this is worth $1 because i'm giving it to you and i own $1"

yeah tether used to be the cutting edge in fintech, but a fake imaginary dollar backed by a fake real dollar is sooooo 2015. nfts, fake assets backed by a vague association with the url to a jpg of real asset are the new hotness. by this time next year it'll just be like random numbers and you want to buy them because maybe someone else will want to buy the same number in the future, like lottery numbers without the lottery

tether does actually have USD:Tether exchanges like kraken where someone is actually propping up the exchange rate with real USD, to some extent

I’d guess Alameda Research and some of these tether hedge funds have a bot setup.

https://protos.com/tether-papers-crypto-stablecoin-usdt-investigation-analysis/

tether papers posted:

As Protos reported in August, market makers Alameda Research (spearheaded by crypto billionaire Sam Bankman-Fried) and Cumberland Global (a subsidiary of trading giant DRW) are still the biggest fish in Tether markets.

Together, Alameda and Cumberland received at least $60.3 billion in USDT across the time period analyzed, equal to around 55% of all outbound volume — ever.

Alameda Research wears multiple hats. It’s the parent company of crypto and crypto derivatives exchange FTX, but it’s also a quantitative trader, and serves as a venture capitalist across the ecosystem.

The firm has led an impressive 18 funding rounds and participated in 71 more, according to Crunchbase.

One of Alameda’s most notable moves was its participation in ‘Ethereum killer’ Solana’s $314 million token sale earlier this year, alongside Polychain Capital and CoinShares.

Alameda Research’s lead brain Bankman-Fried is one of Solana’s most vocal proponents. Solana’s native token SOL has since grown to become the fifth most-valued cryptocurrency at press time, just behind Tether.
