if crypto has to exist, maybe it's better than running GPUs at full tilt, but then again it shouldn't exist at all also the idealism of "you can run it on your phone" is very cute, as if using 100gb on your phone (1 plot) against a network of close to an exabyte would ever make sense

Wouldn’t doing that wash trade with the $500M Punk raise it’s value high above the cost basis? And because it’s a securities event, would result in a top of short term taxable gains? the IRS or SEC probably doesn’t get into the weeds on stuff like this, but given that these transactions are traceable… well I can dream of one day all these chucklefucks owing back taxes in the hundreds of millions. — there’s also the fun possibility of more people trying this and then messing it up, and now they are holding a huge bag that can’t be paid off and more and more people losing their crypto when the flash loan defaults.
