How safe woild those be to eat? I'm wondering if there's any fumes or chemicals you'd have to worry about.

Their webpage says it's basalt that they're melting, I doubt there's anything particularly nasty in it.
Of course, I'm not a chemist or geologist so don't try this at home (I wish I could try this at home)

Not sure when this happened, but it was from a tilt bridge on the Welland Canal. I don't *think* thats the same as a Jack knife bridge, because there is only one side that tilts up.
Just saw these on Fakebook today.

Apparently the driver parked on the wrong side of the barriers, and got in the way of the counterweight.

That was back in 2013, and the driver is from the area but is also a Florida snowbird. So he should have known how that bridge works.

Press stories from the time say he didn't know the bridge was going up until he saw the cars stopped on the other side, then somehow the barriers came down behind him and trapped the truck.

Except there's a red light on the side he was coming from right before the barriers, they come down at the same time it goes red, and even if somehow they didn't right away and instead 'trapped' him after he went past, they're just railway crossing boards - pretty sure you can just snap them easily by reversing your truck.

IIRC the consensus in the area at the time was 'not sure what that dumbass was doing but it wasn't the Seaway's fault'

That's rather outdated. A lovely cyclist can sustain 100 watt output with the pros over 300 with peaks much higher.

The 'sustain' number might be low, but saying a pro peaks at 1hp = roughly 750W isn't outdated. Here's a cyclist powering a 700W toaster... briefly.

Apparently it was a Southwest plane brutally attacking the WOW plane, back in 2018. No injuries.

I thought candy at first but it turns out it's silicone

"Relaxing Video for Meditation" yeah I dunno about that but there sure is a lot of silicone getting mixed:

It looks like a record attempt at Elephant's toothpaste. Pour hydroxen peroxide on a potassium iodide solution, and a lot of heat and oxygen will be released in a short time. Also a lot of elemental iodine. For show it's mixed with dish soap and food color, so a lot of colored foam is generated.

Heat, oxygen, elemental iodine, all relatively safe stuff in moderate quantities. On that scale? Who knows?

It was, here's the youtube link to it:

Apparently they used 625L of 35% H202, that's pretty impressive. Cleanup must have been... interesting.
