to be fair, a lot of this poo poo is really zoomed-out, so more detailed descriptions are necessary at parts anyway, you know how in every bad game, there's that one (semi-)good character that sticks out from the rest of the bullshit? honestly, callistege's that for me. her psychic bullshit thing is interesting, and I honestly like the whole "aloof and amused super-powerful party member just hanging around for the gently caress of it" trope when it pops up

wait hold up, the battle between the changing god and the first castoff is only relevant in a sidequest?

"we took a page out of tides of numenera's book, and in the ffvii remake you'll only personally engage with sephiroth in one sidequest where some rando's gathering funds for a mission to look for sephiroth, and then hear about sephiroth summoning meteor and never see it" --square

but if everyone's eating each other how does anyone live long enough to grow up how did this species manage to survive in the first place in numbers big enough to still be a civilization loving hell it couldn't be clearer that they just thought of a cool concept and didn't actually deconstruct it at all

if hell doesn't exist in numenera why does callistege know what it means this may seem like a minor nitpick but it really shows off how the devs half-assed their hell analogy I think they first had an actual afterlife, then thought "wait, gently caress, too derivative" and hastily changed it to be a spiritually insignificant scifi gate thing

the closest thing to loving off from all this pretentious bullshit and just going out on a foodie trip across wacky space restaurants Life matters only if you experience it. If you let it wither and stagnate, it doesn't matter at all. so that

you getting mad over this game is a delight I want more of, so trolleys also glad to see we've graduated to new levels of spiritually insignificant with "gods can be created by mortal faith, but it matters so little no one comments on it and the literal child who did it says it with the gravity of saying she put on her coat"

quote:It's like a bad game of D&D where the players sit there as the DM describes how his Demon Vampire Ninja killed a dragon with a single blow and then impregnated five elf princesses at once and they all agreed he didn't owe any child support because he was just that good. that's too specific to not be real

kill the sorrow. another thing about this is that ordinarily, hypocrisy is an appealing trait in a villain, if done right. but the sorrow moralizes about loving lovers' quarrels of all things hot off the heels of killing an entire people, and nothing is done with that. the disconnect isn't brought up. it doesn't even add to the villain's hateability or add texture. it only comes off as what it is: bad writing. giving the sorrow a personality at all was a mistake
