Ok before I forget to do this and put it off even more. I also kinda don't feel like numbering things I like into some kinda of 'liked list' so like just number these yourself to cook the books on the numbers for this annual tv thing. Also might be editing this in real time so don't look until its done.

Number 1: Stranger Things Season 3:
Great season it pretty much saved this show from just being known as garbage trash for me. Season 1 was an ok thing but season 2 was just awful with barely moving the story along. Well season 2 did have one good thing and season 3 capitalized on it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWoTR0H8cRo
Just a great thing, a great pair. I really enjoyed the story being split into 4 plot threads for most of it.

I really didn't mind the coke thing either and thought it was a great scene.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntHeOSNEwa4

The real hero of the show had to be Alexei, sucks hes dead and there's no youtube of the scene I like with him and Murray.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RrreUjLfM8
He was a great foil for Murray also even befriending him when he was so not friendly towards Russians.
And since I can't find a youtube of this here are some screens of my favorite Alexei and Murray scene.

Also just one clip of Murray being awesome.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZi8hWAILoA

Erica was great too.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Htx8-0h4Rug

Also to add on,

Brett Gelman as Murray Bauman was very good this season. I left the image huge because it is so good.

I also really enjoyed the song they have in the show. I'm not gonna say what it is to spoiler it but there's a song and people who watched know of it already. This is my gift to you to find if you want to watch it or just youtube stranger things 3 song if you want to spoiler it yourself.

I am really hoping for that last season but I do think they should end the show on something tasteful. I know the guys behind have come out and said that they want it to end for good and I can see to agree with them.

R: Mr Robot Season 4:
Was an ok season, I still really like the show but it was slipping hard and fast with this new world order poo poo. Was a pretty good finale and they did wrap everything up for everyone.

W: Watchmen Season 1:
Wasn't super duper bad.... I guess.

RM: Rick and Morty Season 4:
Its only got 4 episodes in 2019 so reduce this score by a division of total episodes. The 4 episodes were ok.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7jRcwYS5gM
Yea, we can gently caress woolly mammoths!
I rewatched season 1 of Rick and Morty and started wondering why they seem like almost 2 different shows. Weird thought.

G: Garbage Shows:
G:1: Game of thrones:
Lol gently caress this show. I knew it was poo poo from season 1 and I'm just glad I don't have to listen to people say to me how good it is anymore. Also all the military poo poo in it sucks balls, I'm spoiled from Total War.

Oh gently caress we adding youtube videos to the list this year. Well gently caress it here we go!
YOU: Youtube videos on the internet: (these are listed by number but just in order that I'm typing them in because I need some order here)
YOU:1: Preach: WoW videos:
He does videos on wow and is a player at a decent level and is pretty able at playing the game. Enjoy his drama time videos. Here is one with the most simple loot rules for an Classic MC raiding guild.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6qMsJC33Fs&t=720s
I call dibs! I invoke... DIBS.

YOU:2: Buzzfeed Unsolved Series:
This is a show by Ryan Bergara with co-host Shane Madej who discuss unsolved crimes, haunted places, alleged demonic possessions, and historical occurrences. Ryan usually takes the open angle on things, while Shane usually approaches things more sanely.
Here's a pretty good one I enjoyed this year where Shane attempts to open up Annabelle's case to unleash her demonic power on the world.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjqh9UVfNNk
Good like finding all their videos on their website because they are also terrible at listing things in order.

And if you are really interest Shane put on a really good side show last year with the Hot Daga. 99% of the voices are voiced by Shane himself because he actually a voice actor or an aspiring one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeKHSfJa3D0
I really do want to stress how the Hot Daga is a good show. Here's a picture of a lot of the characters.

Here is also the main character of the show until Shane had written himself into a corner and had to branch off to a new set of characters.

What a sweet hot dog. I would be his friend.

And just in case you just want to listen to all the great music that Shane wrote and sang, here's a playlist of the critically acclaimed Hot Daga songs.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfJ7x7dEouM

YOU:3: Youtube Explain Lawyers: (since I have two, I'll just begin a new subcategory to my list here.)
These tend to be more left and right wingy so I'll list two.

YOU:3: Youtube Explain Lawyers: LegalEagle
This guy is super duper left wing but he does alot of pop culture videos and is usually pretty funny.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Z1p7TMPXFM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFAi-X-gNIQ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWkH1CzLDU4

YOU:3: Youtube Explain Lawyers: Viva Frei
This guy is a Montreal lawyer that tries to stay neutral. Less overall funny than LegalEagle but sometimes he does some decent videos.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRyX_0p8GYg

BrBA: Breaking Bad's El Camino:

I didn't feel like I needed to see this movie or for it to be made at all really. I kinda accepted that Jeese went off to star in Need for Speed and didn't need to know that he was gonna live his life just fine. It kinda sucks that they had to not make Better Call Saul this year to work on this.

S: Southpark:
Was a pretty good season and I'm glad they are continuing making the show.

Sunny: It's Always Sunny:
Another good season. I hope they keep making more.
I really enjoyed the Big Mo episode, I enjoy the thing they do where they film stuff in a singular location.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0zOa34MlKk

YOU:4: Georg Rockall-Schmidt:
This is a movie talking guy on youtube and has a unique view on things and style. These videos are part of the point hes trying to make here. You can watch them in either order. Learned about him from cined.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oY45PzpdDM0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlA1TEF2r4c

YOU:5: Hbomberguy:
A fellow goon and a youtuber on the internet. Sometimes very funny and he has a voice.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8dfiDeJeDU
Also if Hbomberguy reads this, I love how you tear into Paul Joseph Watson. Motherfucker stands in front of a world map like hes solving crimes.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gFsOoKAHZg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TebCHHCw9rY
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLqXkYrdmjY
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsNm2YLrk30
He kinda got kidnapped by the curiosity stream people on youtube this year so don't hate on him too much.

And a final special youtube guy that HBOMBERGUY helped introduced me to in his videos and is completely his fault why I watched these videos. :siren:Remember if you have a problem with this you can message hbomberguy on these forums and let him know. Also ask when he is going to make a new video about British politics I really want to know who the guy that looks like the British version of Donald Trump is. Also ask him to do a video on the Star Wars Prequels. Thanks in advance, and remember hbomberguy is the one that introduced me to this youtuber I HOLD NO RESPONIBILITY!:siren:

10: Derry Girls, short and sweet. It's got just the right amount of 90's nostalgia without it overstaying its welcome. And between all the comedy it's taking on the big events of the day, who is pulling those strings for Strabane ?

9: Kingdom, finally a fresh take on the zombie apocalypse with a great historical setting to provide some stunning visuals and compelling story. And if you've read anything on the Imjin War it becomes sort of historical documentary on how the Korean courtiers saw an invasion of an unstoppable force of doom as a great opportunity to grab some more power.

8: Attack On Titan. A brutal, relentless conclusion to the first part of season 3, this show is like no other in how it's a rollercoaster from deep despair to soaring triumph followed by a reveal that the triumph was quite hollow and even greater disasters are imminent.

7: Emergence. Between this and Evil this was a good year for network shows starting with an E. In the end Emergence was the better show for me with better plotting and acting. The cast is especially strong with Allison Tolman and Clancy Brown being as good as you'd expect and for network TV an uncommonly good young lead in Alexa Swinton.

6: Jett: Cool, stylish, a perfect little show that does exactly what it sets out to do. And one of 3 shows this year (not counting Saul) with Giancarlo Esposito in a small role as the Man Everyone Is Afraid Of.

5: Barry. I think everything about this has been said already. Ronny/Lily is probably the best 30 minutes made this year.

4: The Boys. This kind of came out of nowhere and helped keep my Amazon Prime subscription active waiting for The Expanse. Equally hilarious, scary and engaging this took the unbearibly edgy source material and made it into something quite amazing. Absolute standout was Antony Starr as Homelander with an incredible performance as the complete nightmare of a person a realistic Superman would be. As a sidenote, several shows this year suffered from having Omnipotent Villains that felt like plot devices, being always more powerful than what seems plausible until the story deems it time for them to fail. Like Mr. Robot's Dark Army, Watchmen's 7th Kavalry, The Expanse's Murtry, High Castle's Third Reich and a few more. Homelander is one of the few cases where the villain is truly formidable and acts like it. And another Giancarlo Esposito appearance.

3: The Crown. Watching this is like stepping into a warm bath, you're sliding into pure quality acting, costuming, sets and dialogues. Switching the entire cast to a new generation would be daunting to many but the British have such a vast army of great actors that the transition is barely felt, as if the characters merely put on a new coat. While I do miss Pip Torrens as Lascalles a whole new set of great secondary characters came in, each one of which I wanted to see more of. Princess Anne spin-off now please.

2: Chernobyl. Pure terror, brilliantly portrayed, even with the somewhat questionable claims of whole continents in danger. It's impressive how instantly authentic everything seems, even if you never experienced the 1980's Soviet Union. It's even better then The Americans, quite an accomplishment.

1: Succession. Out of all the shows this year this was the one I was looking forward to each week the most. Much like The Crown it's rich, powerful assholes making each other miserable fighting over who gets to be a little more powerful then the other. It's really the most unlikely premise to produce must watch TV but hey, get some amazing writers and actors and even The Not-Murdochs can become your greatest obsession.

Gather round goons and goonettes. It's finally time to reveal the results of the 8th Annual TVIV awards! I, Looten Plunder will be your host today. It's my first time doing this, and I've got big shoes to fill. Please forgive me if there are a few bumps along the way. Regardless, I think it's going to be a fun ride.

Much like Network TV, TVIV is dying. The young 'uns don't want to pay for no forums when they've got their fancy new snapchat filters and tick-toks. But much like Law and Order SVU or the whatever poo poo Chuck Lorre has served up recently, you'll never kill us entirely. It's been a fun 12 months chatting with you in the various threads, let's all get together and celebrate our bad opinions on TV.

As always, there are some big questions that need to be answered. Including, but not limited to:
  • Has binge culture become king with the rise of the streaming giants, or will the likes of Watchmen, Rick & Morty and Succession revitalise people's love of appointment television?
  • Will lengthy hiatus' and polarising earlier seasons hurt the prospects of previous TVIV darlings Game of Thrones, True Detective and Mr. Robot
  • Will the early airing and tendency for recency bias from voters hurt the chances of TVIV favourites Broad City, Barry and You're the Worst?
  • Could The Good Place do the unthinkable and three-peat in 2019/20??
  • Will the Goon outrage at the cancellation of Tuca and Bertie, Wayne and Santa Clarita Diet translate to good results or will we just prove the corporations right and get distracted by the next new shiny thing they dangle in front of us?
  • Will the diluted TV landscape result in some niche/cult shows sneaking into some top spots on the list?
  • Now that goons finally realised that the Netflix/Arrowverse superhero shows are bad and/or they were killed by the network, what will take their place? Were The Boys, Doom Patrol, The Tick and Harley Quinn popular/good enough to win peoples hearts and minds?
  • How will the new offerings from Apple TV+ and Disney Plus fare? Have they succeeded in winning the hearts and minds of TVIV?

Join us for the answers to these questions and more! Let's get this underway! Without further ado, let's kick this off with the list of shows that didn't make our official countdown.

Goons appear to love their 80's nostalgia trips. Are we hyped for the Willow remake that recently got announced as well?

Glad this snuck in. Please watch this and petition your favourite streaming service to pick it up for a second season.

The old age makeup was pretty marvelous. The last few episodes are kind of silly, but they still absolutely got to me.

Back from the dead! This show really rewarded those that didn't give up on it after Season 2. Cracker of a season.

At this point, it's a mainstay on these lists. Great to see it's survived the TV Avalanche and made it on to the list.

The sketch premises are bizarre, and the laughs per minute are off the chart.

I remember buzz for this when it came out early in the year. Impressive that it appeared to stay with people enough for it to make multiple top 10 lists.

Looks like DC TV shows are showing a little more promise than their big screen brethren!?

Welp. We have another tie people. This is the last one. Or is it?

some good twisty time stuff going on.

Honestly for all the trippiness and time travel, the show is at its best when it's a few people just sitting around the house goofing around.

Might have to check this one out. Was disappointed to learn that I wasn't looking at Audrey Plaza in all those screencaps/video thumbnails but Odenkirk is certainly a plus!

I finally got around to binging this in the last couple of days. I'm up to episode 7 and concur with the voters that the McBride/Hill partnership keeps on producing!

Not the heights of yesteryear but impressed with the staying power and continued quality of this show. The worst this show gets is "pretty good". It even survived the 3 season Netflix curse!
