Even people on SA don't know of my existence  A few people I know in real life have heard about this site. Before registered I was a fan of the front page and regularly sent links to people. Nowadays I have no idea how to describe this place other than as a message board.

I usually sit at the computer in the living room while the family plays video games, watches TV, etc. I have been here for 15 years, so they all know about it. They don't care. Forums are old people stuff. My wife still posts on babycenter for some drat reason, even though our youngest kid just turned 15. That's weird as hell to me. She got pretty mad when I made a thread about having to pour out my whole liquor thread because she was an alcoholic, though. It was a good thread. She doesn't trust you assholes anymore after the whole lot of bad TREE LAW! advice I got. Oh crap. I just remembered I bought her an account here like 10 years ago. She made the mistake of posting in the pet forum back when it was full of rabid assholes who would jump on you if you did anything they didn't believe was perfect. They accused her of lying about the breed of our mutt rescue and said she was supporting backyard breeders of designer dogs or something. She never posted again. My husband knows a bit about this place, and I've shown him some stuff like small pastry and groverhaus. I had one friend mention 4chan years ago. I said I only know about it through Something Awful and he immediately got defensive and proclaimed he only goes there for games and he doesn't even go to /b and he's nothing like the rest of them lol

My best friend who bought me this account knows. He never joined but he was an early weird twitter figure so theres some overlaps. Wife knows vaguely that I read some forums, jokingly calls them my blogs. Ive explained some funny threads to her, but thats about as far as I can see it going. Few months ago was drunk with a couple college friends and learned that theyre both into Reddit. Would not have pegged these two as being Very Online in the slightest, so this surprised me. In that vulnerable moment, I started explaining SA and got about 15 seconds in when I started hearing myself and seeing their eyes glaze so I stopped and asked them to tell me more funny posts from r/AITA
