Never a big fan of ministry of sound (the relentless brand at least, their sound system was almost certainly the best in london) but for someone who was there (maan) this long-after-the-fact mashup mix does a fantastic job of summing up the UK scene as a whole '89-'97ish. Majority of the tracks are mashed up with only a few standing (mostly) on their own but it is VERY well done imo. https://soundcloud.com/selectabwoy/the-cut-up-boys-the-mash-up-mix-old-skool-disc-1 https://soundcloud.com/selectabwoy/the-cut-up-boys-the-mash-up-mix-old-skool-disc-2

#102, MAIN playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGk7KyjK2eQ This was apparently a well known track back in the day, and I can see why. It's not as intense as most of the tracks in the playlist, but it has an era-defining texture. You can almost feel the air of the sweat-drenched warehouse when listening to it.

I have a poo poo ton, thousands of songs for Amiga, in mod format. If you load them into Milkytracker you can have the authentic Oldschool Rave experience. Each file is like, 50 kilobytes. It's fun, very modular. You can change the instruments and tweek the songs to however you want.

New main playlist addition: Indo Tribe - Bring In The Pulse (MFK Mix) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbPltWLNOD8 Timely that I found this, as all copies of another main playlist track, "The Creator", were recently taken down from YouTube. So, the track total stays the same.

edit: lol I guess these would’ve fit more in the EDM thread or something but hey I got 90’s rave vibes from ‘em

2 more playlist tracks and 2 more non-playlist tracks*, for 148 total: Es-Pee-Dee & DJ Distroi - Alpha Wave [bonus tracks] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lPzTFqJs6E Satin Storm - Let's Get Together [near-rave] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrVpIgFX51w Sound Corp - Dream Finder https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04yieab1CK0 Bass Ballistics - Smoke Dis One Remix (Smoke Till Ya Choke) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yqS-ux84kk *The distinction doesn't matter much now - I finally decided to merge all five of my playlists together because my main playlist is being viewed WAY more than the others, and a lot of killer tracks are being missed out on.

Another more popular/mainstreamy track: Blame - Music Takes You https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jROHgXSRuU Now 149 track total.

Just out of curiosity I tried to convert your youtube to a spotify playlist; And it found about half of the tracks:) I don't know how people listen to youtube on the go. Is it even possible? Sorry, I'm old. I like rave, but mostly make playlists with old and new mixed together, with house/techno in it too, my brain isn't made to stick to one thing. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0TLFhieVuem7dzMwV9R4ZN?si=cCTkU4-mT9yfm-MQ5G4oug

Synthetic Hermit posted:Try the YouTube Music app, which comes in free and ad-free Premium variants. Oh yeah, I guess it’s finally available in my country. But the music cuts once you lock the screen or open another app. I guess you need to pay to have these options. Don’t think I have the money for yet another subscription and the wife wouldn’t want to switch. Oh well...

mrfart posted:I don't know how people listen to youtube on the go. Is it even possible? Sorry, I'm old. The Musi app on iOS is great for this, it lets you listen to YouTube audio with the screen off or while you’re using other apps. I love this thread already, just started checking it out. I was kind of into this stuff in the early-mid 90s since I had a couple raver friends who would copy great mixtapes for me. Only went to one real rave though, and at around 22 or so at the time I already felt like I was too old for the scene and do these kids parents know what they’re doing?? ![]() I like the premise of the thread, I never liked the light piano rave stuff, the tracks collected here are so satisfying. That said, I do like the old breakbeat heavy stuff too, and haven’t heard any old mixes in a while. If anyone’s got links to old mixtapes I’d love to hear them.
