I hope the guy imagines the other path, where he put his entire life savings into this and then COVID-19 happened and he lost it all.

I mean, I thought that's how it would've ended anyway, but even as pessimistic as I was, I didn't think it could have turned to poo poo as fast as it would have.

Yeah I'm real loving glad I didn't move forward with anything, I also got lucky I picked up a consulting gig towards the start of the year.. My friends in the restaurant biz are all struggling in a big way. The city has done precisely nothing for small business owners but is rolling out the red carpet to try to help Shell and other big oil and gas companies.

A couple people I know have gone to their commercial land lords and said that unless PPP comes through it's going to be nearly impossible for them to make May 1st rent. The replies have all been "You need to figure out how to make the payment or were changing the locks. "

Your clientele isn't the working class who are the ones that primarily got laid off.

The city center/memorial city is almost all oil and gas employees though. Not sure if you saw but the price of oil futures went negative and now a barrel is like $13. It's bad with not a lot of signs of turning around before the end of the year. There have been something like 30,000 white collar layoffs just this month in the oil and gas world.

It is pretty sobering how many small and independent businesses are being shuttered off downtown while landlords complain about how people are pushing for rent strikes and rent freezes hurts their bottom line.

There's been one too many "I don't like being painted as the villain here!" interviews from property owners for my liking.

It was like that in the phillipines. You had to have a Bachelors degree to get a job at kfc and Starbucks needed one from a top university.

e: p. giamatti runs a pawn shop that is kind of mobbed up and when the local mob shows up he helps e. suplee to keep his business legit

p. giamatti gives a way most of his wealth, his stock, burns up his local police contacts and criminal informants to keep e. suplee's business afloat

after the credits run over the bleeding body of p. giamatti, flash forward to years later we see e. suplee build a new economy in the neighborhood, and e. suplee has invested in a minority-owned business that has taken over the space the p. giamatti business was in

No, by the grace of God I didn't do anything, especially since sit down coffee shops have been absolutely wrecked by the pandemic. I did get a job though. I've been restoring my savings. Hopefully one day life will return to normal and I can make dreams come true.
