Some very good Fondness events that make Kai that much more of a well-rounded character in this update. Mishima's was cute, Kanna's was hilarious (especially considering how much Kai is a troll to others) and an unexpected rivalry with Alice appears. This is definitely making me like Kai a lot more.

Just tested this out a bit, and if it's possible to fail, just scoring badly doesn't seem to be enough—on a playthrough where I scored -40 (which seems to be the lowest possible score) every time, all three competitions still happened as normal and it just gave the Island Collapse ending instead. That being said, I was playing on Normal mode instead of Hard, and I didn't try showing up to a competition with no food at all, so maybe one of those would make a difference? That being said, the scenes themselves do exist in the files, so even if they turn out to be completely unused it should still be possible to get footage of them in the downloadable version of the game by copying their data over the place of a used event, at least

As part of YTTD's fifth anniversary, Nankidai has announced the upcoming Steam release of YTTD. The Steam version won't be free, and the content will be the same as the existing free version, but will include some additional materials (I think it's an art book, but I'm not a hundred percent certain on that. The Tweet is here if anyone wants to take a look.) No mention of a release date for 3-2, unfortunately. Edit - VGPerson added a comment on their Twitter: The Steam version will use VGPerson's translation, and will include character profiles as free DLC and achievements. 3-2 will initially only be released on Steam. The free version of YTTD will be updated with 3-2 at a later date; no mention of how long the delay between the Steam and the free version releases will be. The price for the Steam version is currently unknown. Save files from the free version of YTTD may be ported to the Steam version, VGPerson has a save manager tool to download the save files for browser saves. This sure comes back unexpectedly. Nice to see some backstory, especially of a moment we were told about. The new sprites for Alice and Reko also help making this feel like it happened in another moment, other games may just reuse what they had.
