as a reminder of how good this year was, i don't know if any of these indie/AA games even made the VGA cut: baba is you, judgment, pathologic 2, gato roboto, katana zero, eastshade, AI: the somnium files, river city girls, elsinore, trails of cold steel 3, hypnospace outlaw, etrian odyssey nexus, code vein, life is strange 2, operencia the stolen sun, afterparty, remnant from the ashes, concrete genie, later alligator, bloodstained, blazing chrome, my time at portia, wargroove, islanders, children of morta i think even a couple of AAA games didn't make the cut, was the division 2 given any nominations at all

Oh yeah, where the gently caress WAS Baba is You? THAT is actually the best indie game that came out this year. I don't even remember it in the nominations during the show? Wasn't that a game in one of the categories on the website?

Sekiro is a great game of the year choice. Outer Worlds close second, Smash maybe coming in third.

I can only speak for myself, so as someone who is absolutely gay for the dark souls series, Sekiro rewrote the rules in my dark souls brain, and fighting each boss for me had the same impact or hype that i would get from playing a final boss in another game. Finally getting the hang of it was awesome and I got the same feeling i did with Dark Souls 1, where I would actually pay DLC for more content.

Personally I didn't get as hooked on Sekiro as other Souls games but I think it's cool Fromsoft won because they are the coolest dev out there and it's a great game. Death Stranding and Metro Exodus were the best of the year to me though.
