Someone at work introduced me to this band a few months ago and I guess I'm a dude who listens to Sleigh Bells now?? It's maybe a lil weird for me to be listening to music by younger people. Maybe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfGtB6K8q8k SweetWillyRollbar posted:Is political music also not allowed? Asking for me. I'm also glad someone else has a hard time separating their politics from their music. Run The Jewels 4 just came out recently, I'm not sure any of y'all are fans. I think it's pretty good, I'm a fan of theirs generally. The song where they address money as being slave owners reminded me of my favorite local emcee: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_EdSiz6KSg I can't say for sure if they know this song or not, hot as everyone is on it. I dunno the point I'm trying to make, it's, uh, early I guess.

Here's a vaguely unsettling video from a band I rather enjoy. Song doesn't really start until shortly before 0:45, ends way, way before the 5:08 marker, I felt like the video does give it something just the audio of the song doesn't have. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNF7jcUq-yM

This owns. I like the band name, and the use of mirrors as a cheapy effect. Also, how that plays with your perception of the use of real effects later. This also owns. Aes is one of my favorite emcees, and I haven't heard Kimya Dawson before but this is a powerful collaboration. Gonna be keeping an eye out for the Uncluded. I'm also very impressed how fresh they keep the sound, and how fast they put it out. For example, they had two records come out in 2019, that sounded nothing alike, Fishing for Fishies and Infest the Rats' Nest, which sounded nothing alike at all. God I just remembered I was supposed to see them during their North American tour this summer. Guess I'll be pouring one out for another dope Aussie band I'll never get to see tonight.

I don't listen to too much EDM, but I remember my first exposure to the genre, in middle school at a record store with a friend, he picks up Bible of Dreams by Juno Reactor. I'd never heard of it, his older cousin was into them tho, he described it as psy-trance. What was really funny about it was that later when I wanted to listen to his Juno CD he told me we could, but that he was almost certainly going to fall asleep, as he found that CD almost impossible to listen to more than a few minutes without succumbing to sleep. Sure enough, I think I had a comment on the second track, and when I turned to say it he was already unconscious. Anyway, here's my favorite track off that record. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8LY2VgiikE

Holy gently caress I'm really sorry to hear about your friend. I spent the whole video trying to decide if the painting is supposed to be them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNfATac2m0A I saw this band, shoot, probably the same year this video was shot, and they were super fun to watch. In this year of no live music, I've found myself listening to, or trying to at least, a lot of the smaller, indier bands I've seen over the years. I hope these ladies are still making music. I talked to the drummer a bit after the set, she was super nice.

For some reason this video is reminding me of the video for Captain Murphy's Duality record: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwV8ySqsYsg This video is a lot longer and the nudity is, what I consider brief and rare, lyrically also probably not something you want to listen to at the office, unless your coworkers dgaf or are down. lmao the more of Duality I'm watching the less they remind me of each other, but whatever. edit: ah yeah there's some surprisingly unflagged nudity and a lil past that in here. Still with the video clocking in over thirty minutes long they are a slim number of frames. Just know they're there if you're going to watch.
