If you wanna read dense, world building Avengers nonsense then read Hickman's incredibly based run, not Bendis's. This Netflix controversy that’s everywhere right now is pretty crazy. I haven’t seen the film but even Peyton Royce tweeted about it. I’m so used to conservatives calling everything and everyone pedophiles (projecting) I don’t know what to believe. I also think of movies like Kids, or Happiness that were pretty grotesque but with reason that was artful. A lot of youtubers are saying it’s literally just child exploitation. It so that’s pretty heinous but then there was the moral panic psychotic poo poo in the 80s, and Pizzagate today. Anyone smarter than me (most people) know what the hell is up?

I definitely think if it’s really about the perils of being a young girl in a world that sexualizes and mistreats them then Netflix really bungled the marketing in a gross way.

a senegalese woman made a film about a young girl living in a muslim household in france that daydreams about what she percieves as freedom, I.E becoming one of those weird US style pageant kids. the movie is about the regressive and harmful expectations on little girls and young women and how they look so different outwardly but are in fact similarly harmful. netflix marketed it in a creepy way that did not indicate any of this at all and just looked like creepy cheap pedobait, and did so without any input from the director or production company or anything. now people have glommed onto the whole thing.

My current obsession is the Battletech game that came out a while ago, all the main DLC is great and it scratches my XCOM itch in a way that Chimera Squad kinda didn't.

Yeah I loved the Alan Wake stuff, it's been awhile since I played the original games so I'd gone a little fuzzy on the details, but that's okay because Alan Wake has too! I still have to do the Foundation stuff, but I've finished up the main game and think it hit that sweet spot of not feeling too short but also leaving me wanting more.

Same. It's a movie I'll watch with my daughters one day when they're around the age of the characters and I am really upset with how Netflix hosed over this filmmaker. It's a good movie that will obviously connect more with young women and I think it's weird and very bad that it's connected to a disingenuous campaign by Qanon freaks.
