The Extended Cut has an intro by Sandler at the beginning and a Q&A after the movie. I can't find anything about additional scenes in the movie itself.

Heh that's also the name of my dick. Good movie too in its own right. I really appreciated the pace and tension the film managed to maintain, I think it's pretty unique in that regards and I really liked that.

The more I think about the movie, the more I think that the ending is actually a happy ending for Sandler's character. I've known addicts my whole life, I've seen the addiction suck the soul from a person and twist innocence into evil. Sandler's character is an addict, cut and dry. There isn't a syringe hanging from his arm, he's fully conscience of his behavior and actions, but is powerless to stop them. The gambler's high, winning big, is his drug and nothing will ever, ever compete with the ecstasy of winning. The monkey on his back became the man, likely long before the film even starts for this character. While we can see the human being on the peripheral sides of his story, every thought and action he takes goes to chasing, and increasing his high. When he was sucker-shot, it came when he won the biggest amount of his life. At the end, he was so ecstatic he didn't even sense the immediate danger he was in. But you're goddamn kidding yourself if you think Sandler was two steps away from a clean break. He'd of only leveraged his winnings into a crazier, even more distant long shot. Family, safety and good sense be damned, an addict's life is a short rollercoaster ride of chasing an ever evasive and more dangerous high. Amazing movie.

I’m an alcoholic and yeah. I think if you’re an addict and have an understanding of the behavior and whatnot, it’s just that much more engrossing. You know where it’s going but at the same time, you hope against hope that he breaks the cycle.

The movie was otherwise good but I didn't appreciate all the Julia fakeouts. The possibility that she's gonna die or get raped is consistently played up for drama. Empty apartment eerily lit. Goons sent to chase her down. Walks into creepy old man's penthouse. Old man goes to shower. Old man says he has friends coming. Old man collects her money with no sign of her for what must have been at least 10 or 15 seconds. I don't think they knew what to do with her except have her be (a) totally actually in love with ugly Adam Sandler against your expectations and (b) maybe dead or raped.

To me it never felt like she was in any danger apart from having the money stolen and possibly getting beaten up There’s an example of that in The Gentlemen that’s pretty egregious though

Yeah, while I was watching the movie I got the impression that the helicopter pilot might have planned to just steal from her after learning how much money she had. I think the part where he is walking off with the money seems to be trying to make you think that is the case. It never felt like he was planning on raping her.

If you see a beautiful woman on screen and are constantly thinking "is this the part where she gets raped?" and then at the end of the movie (where she is never raped) conclude "well then what was the point of her character anyway?" then that might be a you problem and not a screenplay problem. The found plenty to do with her, she provides conflict between Howard and The Weeknd, Howard and his wife, and Howard and herself. She (like us) sees past Howard's faults and is rooting for him to pull it off unlike everyone else in his life. She subverts expectations by being loyal to and actually caring about Howard the whole time. She is integral to his final play and had her own little mini-adventure in the casino. And she's a fantastic actress and another fun authentic-New-York-City-character in her own right.

The only thing close to a rape threat I can recall is when one of Arno's thugs offers to come with her when she pretends she's going to the washroom to leave the jewelry shop, and that was more general perversion than outright rape-iness.

I still loathe this film, but I saw Good Time last night and surprisingly liked it a lot. It was everything that people said about Uncut Gems (tense, charismatic lead despite the character being a scumbag, anxiety-inducing in a good way) without being loving insufferable to sit through.

I like how when Arno is listing things he's heard Howard spent money on, they're just things he probably heard from his wife, like the kids going on vacation and resurfacing the pool. I don't get the impression Arno is all that good of a loan shark, especially since I feel like lending to your brother in law just sounds like a bad situation to be in. And he apparently didn't have much control over his muscle. Also, Phil several times threatens Howard without following through on them, and it was hard for me to reconcile how tightly Arno was trying to pressure Howard with how amateurish he came off in other ways. If Howard had let Arno and crew out of the store near the end, what was their next move, do you think? I was surprised that, even at the end, they were going to leave without actually doing anything to Howard. Because I get the impression that Arno would not have authorized going hands on with family.

It sounded like Howard owed Arno somewhere around $100,000 If I'm Arno, I would have just demanded Howard give him the car at the school play and deducted that from his debt - that's what I thought "hand me the keys" was leading to - that was at least a $50,000 car

Not saying you're wrong to think of that in the moment, but I doubt Howard actually owns his car outright. He strikes me as the kind of guy who leases something new every 2-3 years.

The movie is full of moments where he completely disregards anything (danger, people, feelings, family, you name it), because of the chase / the high. It's a perfect moment that at his highest high, after literally caging dangerous animals, he is still so obvlious to everything he's done that he just opens it up.
