I really don't know how they'll pull of the Weapons without making them huge QTEs like God of War or Kingdom Hearts. Especially Emerald Weapon with the whole underwater thing.

Sometimes, in a city this dirty, you need a real hero.
There'll presumably be some situational thing where you're fighting a part of the weapon rather than taking it on one-to-one.

Like it'll be so large you're running around on its head or back or whatever slowly attacking its defences.

What they should do for each Weapon is just make it an FF14 raid like they did with Ruby Weapon. Literally, for those fights, change the entire combat system to MMO style, sort of like what Metal Gear did for the final fight with Liquid and Ocelot.

Make Barrett run off the edge of the arena and laugh at him.

Wouldn't Cid be the one doing that if we're in FF14 mode?

Nonsense. I have not yet begun to defile myself.

They kind of did a rudimentary version of that with the last boss in the original game, where it was your entire party up against him and you could switch between mini-groups. Kind of put together like crap, but the thought was there

Man I love the WEAPONs so loving much.

So much of my favourite parts of FFVII are actually after Midgar. Both Flashbacks, Cosmo Canyon, the Forgotten Capital, the WEAPONs, etc.

One of the greatest moments in all of FFVII. FFVII isn't just the story itself, it's the storytelling. Stuff like having the cannon fire and then the eerie silence save for the waves as we wait to see if it worked is so, so good.

The 1st disc of FFVII is probably my favorite part. You meet a lot of the characters in Midgar, then you travel across the world exploring the side stories and backstories for a lot of characters while picking up a few more along the way.

The side stories like cosmo canyon, corel, etc. add a lot to the game imo.

Really hoping Ruby WEAPON's presence is expanded a bit. All the others are definitively shown as massive threats whereas Ruby... hangs out under a casino, doing nothing unless somebody comes along to poke him.

Neither Ruby nor Emerald have much of a presence as they weren't in the original Japanese release.

Emerald just chills out underwater unless you crash into him.

XIV's version of Summons are called Primals by most people, but the ancient word for them is Eikon. That word is also adopted by the modern day evil empire.

I now have all 4 huge materias and everyone's Final Limit except Cloud's because I didn't do the Battle Square yet. I have a Gold Chocobo and KotR though. My final team looks to be Cloud, Red (with Stardust Ray) and Yuffie (With Doom of the Living).

There's a lot of nice character moments if you take the time to talk to your team ebwteen plot events, like Vincent reminiscing about Professor Gast giving all the machines to Cosmo Canyon, Red telling us Aerith used to pet his snout a lot and it bothered him but now he misses it or Caith Sith saying he told Elmyra about her daugther'S death and both Elmyra and Marlene cried a lot.

I always thought that they were largely organic, but that they had mechanical (or bio-mechanical) parts. Diamond weapon really looks like it has metal plates/ports in its shoulders where it launches those projectiles, but its limbs look very fleshy (especially its feet). It also looks like it flinches when it sees the shot from Sister Ray approaching, which seems more like a response that a creature would have. It also looks very organic in its Kingsglaive appearance, which is the look I assume they will go with for its FF7R appearance.

Although, Ultima WEAPON does have a very mechanical looking "core"...

Midgar was the intro and when it finally opens up stuff starts actually happening. Given the cutscenes shown in trailers it looks like it would finish with the big long recap story Cloud tells at the inn after you get out of Midgar, but they may retcon that so that you don't actually leave or make the whole post-escape to inn segment a cutscene or something. All the interesting stuff happened later.

Have been waiting on this since Elentor's incredibly amazing LP reminded me that the characters were really good until the extended Gackt-fueled universe happened.

DoC's WEAPON was Omega, supposedly the planet's final final defence mechanism that would gather up all the lifestream and shoot it into space to find a new home. Sacrificing a bunch of people was apparently enough to trigger a big enough surge for the planet to activate it, even though the planet didn't bother when Meteor was about to hit or during all the wars that Shinra fought for world dominance.

DoC was loving stupid.

The white haired anime boy you're thinking of was Weiss, I think. I don't think he was a WEAPON.

That could explain Meteor, although it doesn't explain the whole Shinra world dominance thing, unless they somehow became the global superpower while barely killing anyone.

Weiss was like the avatar of Omega Weapon, channeling its power in opposition to Vincent's Chaos.

I don't remember how or why for any of this but that was the idea of DoC's plot. I remember a lot of nerdy Power Level discussions back in my youth about the strongest characters in FFVII and Chaos Vincent and Omega Weiss came up a lot.

Also why did Zack murder the Planet's Goddess in CC.
