I'm no Scientologist, but it's a good movie. A cult classic. It's on Netflix now and I watched it many times. I think it got bad reviews because everyone is against Scientology. Is it any worse than any other sci fi drivel?

It's a stupid movie and don't bring yourself down to it's level. You would be better off defending The Postman or Waterworld.

Battlefield earth really loves its Dutch angles, it makes for something that’s really unpleasant to look at. Why yes, I would love to watch a 2 hour movie where everything is crooked.

The store I was working at got a big box of Battlefield Earth action figures. We never sold a single one, they were the joke of the store and eventually they got tossed in a dumpster. I saw Battlefield Earth opening weekend and at the end of the movie a bunch of people in the audience clapped. I assumed that they had to be scientologists given that was one of the worst things I'd ever seen a theater.

Mission to mars is pretty terrible and also features some great actors and wasn't even scientology related. although it did have a creepy panspermia cult vibe don cheadle saves the movie though with a legitimately funny joke about how he has arguments with the plants in his oxygen garden
