Funniest of the year nominee: former MMA washout and current fascist, Tara LaRosa's lovely trailer catches fire during a cross-country move, and an estimated 2,000 rounds of ammunition cook off. Got around to watching Bellator 237 and yeah that's a Worst Card of the Year contender just on paper & somewhat in execution. Probably also a Joe Silva Come back nominee for the main event because Rampage does not look like he cares about fighting anymore.

I updated the OP as I have realized that I left some of the previous categories out. Unfortunately I also left them out for 2019 so I'll update the list to include that gently caress up. Added these categories Best Post-Fight Interview Edit - Gonna also nominate some stuff from over the new years Bellator put on now that I've had a chance to rewatch it. What category should the decision to let Modaferri vs. Barber continue into Round 3 at UFC 246 be in? Barber suffered a believed partial ACL tear but was allowed to come back for round 3 regardless despite barely being able to stand. Is that a refereeing thing? A corner decision? A booking/officiating thing?

I'd put it mainly on the coaches for allowing her to continue and almost certainly hurt her knee even more, but the ref and ring doctor both should have also stopped the fight. Plenty of blame to go around

Yeah I'm gonna go ahead and nominate it for the cornering but there's plenty of blame to go around to everybody else, particularly the doctor. L0cke17 posted:I don't know whether this goes under reffing incompetence, or pure boneheaded stupidity on the part of the fighter but holy poo poo Mostly the second imo. It's pretty loving hard to stop a fight when someone's actively applying pressure on a submission where he's hanging off of a standing up dude. Seeing an arm go is loving gross, but if you call it before that, well, just cross reference this with all the times Joe Rogan yells "THAT'S TIGHT....HE'S DONE!!!! oh he escaped". If he caught it immediately when the arm went I'd be like "dang, good catch" but I don't think he hosed up super bad it's just a super gnarly injury in slow mo. I don't think there's an expectation for the ref to step in when a joint is getting hyperextended and a lot of times it's not immediately obvious that it's totally broken and not just hyperextended (until it is and your arm is 45 degrees the wrong way from where it should be like in the above video). FOTY Andre Ewell vs Jonathan Martinez, UFC 247 Edit: Oh also same fight for The Cecil Peoples Award for Bad Judging, the computer (???) the judges were using crashed and caused a several minute delay in getting the scores, which were then read out without specific names despite a split decision. One of the judges apparently voted 30-27 Ewell, who spent the third round trying mostly to hide the fact that his arm was broken. Brut fucked around with this message at 01:36 on Feb 9, 2020 |
