Here, a blueberry (muffin)... Something I did while sitting in the city, I loved the contrast between the bricks and the white arches so I failed capturing that. Second image is just the arch in brick color. Really nice (Daniel Smith Genuine Sodalite). Ps: seems posting pics on mobile is a drama, will update tomorrow with better pics. It's done in the same Aldi pad as everything else I'm doing for drawnuary, which is pretty smooth compared to the other papers I own, so if I was going to do a proper copy I'd get some nice Hot rather than Not paper. Working through a backlog! I'm starting to experiment a bit more, noticing some of my crutches as well as some things I like. I got distracted and confused halfway through the skull. Next week is vacation so I should probably sit down with a sketchbook and do anatomy practice. Loving the diversity of styles and subjects in this thread!

Ah, I know those things, this is a tangent? English is my second language so today I learned :-) A week or two ago you come into this thread saying you did not draw for a decade and then you make these stunning things. May I ask *why* you did not draw for all those years? turns out huckleberries and blueberries are sort of alike. I blame the random fruit generator.

Aw, shucks. Got myself in a weird headspace with art after I made the decision not to go to art school. "No sense in doing anything now/I can't fail if I don't try/I'd rather drink and play video games," plus depression and anxiety, a drinking problem (sober now), and in general relishing being an unproductive person. In the last year I lost a little over a hundred pounds, won NaNoWriMo, and put some serious work into my marriage. I figured 2020 would be the year that I finally start drawing so I can make a comic by year's end... We'll see about that comic. I'm still getting comfortable making stuff at all, though I'm on the second draft of the script. This belongs in a burger restaurant. Now I only have one day to make up. Gotta try using bolder colors, do anatomy practice.

I love orchids and I love praying mantises and I double-love those orchid-looking praying mantises so I was happy I get to draw Eevee + Lurantis and I don't know how to feel about the fact that other people seem to love them so much they wanna put tits on them. My love for killer insects is pure and innocent. Why are people like this. Luranteon is here anyway: Flavius Aetass posted:I just can't seem to sit down and make something. I feel like every free hour should be spent playing a game or watching a movie so I can just zone out and de-stress. Any good tips on breaking this funk? Set a time. Set a timer. Force yourself to draw when the Time Of Drawing dawns. Tell yourself you're gonna do it now, you're gonna Draw A Thing and you're not allowed vidya games until you put some poo poo down artwise. Brute force through the tiredness and the anxiety and the pain of everyday life until you're holding a drawing untensil and scribbling down lest you stress about not creating art, too.

Any good tips on breaking this funk? Do some research into psychological effects of games, realise games are bad (for you), stop playing games. if you want to relax, just turn everything off for an hour and relax. Then draw something. People seem to be under the illusion that computer games are a way to relax. They are not, they stimulate your mind more, without exercising your body to vent all that stimulation. (My goonfriend does the same thing and I have opinions about it)

For real I have issues wanting to lay down on couch and die as soon as I get home but if I go play a few rounds of CSGO it'll help wake me up enough to draw for a little while. Hard to do that if you have like any other obligations in your life though Other solution: put on bad clickbait YouTube videos in the background so you can half pay attention and draw the most self indulgent thing you can think of, even if it's something that doesn't feel productive to draw or you're horrifically ashamed to be drawing. Anything that can get the slightest extra drop of serotonin out of drawing will at the very least get you to draw more

What works for me is repeating this until I get off my rear end: 1. You can always play games once art gets done. The games already exist regardless of your art, but not vice versa. 2. If you go to bed having done one unit of art and one unit of game, everything is fine. If you go to bed doing two units of game you'll nag yourself and be disappointed.
