For real I have issues wanting to lay down on couch and die as soon as I get home but if I go play a few rounds of CSGO it'll help wake me up enough to draw for a little while. Hard to do that if you have like any other obligations in your life though Other solution: put on bad clickbait YouTube videos in the background so you can half pay attention and draw the most self indulgent thing you can think of, even if it's something that doesn't feel productive to draw or you're horrifically ashamed to be drawing. Anything that can get the slightest extra drop of serotonin out of drawing will at the very least get you to draw more

My only tip is resist the urge to draw every single hair. Like stick to the level you got in that pic, I think it's good you used bigger strokes and didn't blend it to hell E in response to nag

Hello Arf, cool Alien. I think the tricky thing is you should limit your color palette, but you can make those select number of colors much more different in hue, value, etc from each other than you think. I'm on my phone in the middle of a bike ride so I can't provide much helpful reference but try cranking your lightest and darkest color twice as far away from each other darkness/color-wise than you currently have them. Might not look great but will open things up a bit and possibly do some cool looking happy accidents Lately I've just been doodling trash comfort fanart, maybe I'll post the most recent one when I get home

Tbh I very like that Mario, like the only parts that aren't all the way successful are maybe the darkest bits as they seem just a little too overpowering. I've kind of doubled down on a niche not many here would be interested in... here's some more early 2000's videogame mascots Ratchet frommmmmmmm Ratchet  Decker from Go Go Hypergrind. I love his design because he is literally just Crash Bandicoot but if he was being played by like Dane Cook

Not sure where is a good place for this question but this thread gets way more traffic than the others I visit in cc. I'm trying to rebuild my portfolio with a focus on graphic design and illustration, I'm decently knowledgeable about graphic design cause it overlapped a lot of my major's course load when I was in school, but it's been a little while since I've used illustrator/in design. Is there a decent refresher course anyone could recommend, or even just some videos to help me get caught back up that are geared towards an intermediate level designer? Very much just looking for nuts and bolts of the programs rather than any sort of design fundamentals/theory or anything like that.
