It's 2020, most software doesn't crash without a reason.

- Make sure the software is up to date
- Run a virus check
- Make sure your computer has enough space on it so things can run
- Run CCleaner
- If the software continues to crash, note what you're doing when it crashes, or if there's a regular time.
- Submit a crash report to the company

Like come on, you don't have to put up with bad software anymore, there are steps you can take to help the problem. Certainly more productive than whining about it.

Now of course the writer is from 1995 where Windows itself just loved to crash whenever you looked at it funny so that makes more sense, I've been there, it's annoying and there's no fix.
At work, my students and I use machines well over a decade old with demanding software and a requirement to keep several programs open (MS Office and otherwise) and I'm sure I'm not alone.

The dealer I just purchased my car from still uses a machine from the previous millennium with a dot matrix printer. If a business doesn't need the latest computers and software to accomplish their needs, they're not going to spend the money on anything current.

In other news...

Tiff's dad finally gets a face! I guess the Evanses finally realized that it was getting beyond ridiculous! Congratulations, Tiff's dad!

So it's still too early to tell for sure, but it does kind of look like Tiff's idea of growing up is to make nice with her abuser. Disappointing, if true.

Kind of hoping the next panel is Tiff's dad saying, "But darling! We promised each other we'd save ourselves for marriage!" Or that the sonogram is from Tiff's dad's side-piece. (I know neither will be true, but I can dream.)

I do like skeletons who can re-shape their eye-sockets to convey emotions. It's so goofy (but also so metal).

Anyway, onto today's Corto Maltese: Slavin is a man possessed, or Robespierre is an... interesting fellow from the French Revolution, especially in light of all that is happening in the world, particularly in the U.S., but a bit also in the U.K. (possibly also in Belgium, but I don't know how bad the economic situation is there too, or if they are just destroying Leopold the 2nd statues because it's a long time coming, or O'Mahoney forgets an important saying about humoring crazy idealistic people

If this were a Harry Chapin song, it would turn out that Les is Tiffany's brother. Her dad and Ann had hooked up years ago. Then a bad or sad thing would happen to Tiff or Les.

Harry would telegraph the reveal in the chorus but nobody would pick up on it until the final stanza.

I can't tell how annoyed you are, or if you're annoyed at all, but as someone with a low cuteness tolerance I think you'd be better off scrolling right past. The comic is seemingly designed to be cute and LGBTQIA+ friendly. If "species has characteristic" is going to bother you, what's the point? This comic isn't even established enough to hate-read.

fake edit: I described this comic as shallow at first, but it's early in the comic's run so having a bunch of introductory strips devoid of plot makes sense.

Is it weird that I find this more vaguely unsettling than the strips where they talk about eating sentient being? The hedgehog is doing this weird matchmaking where she first prevents the mink from running off, then presents George to her as a viable dating opportunity, and then when the mink is creeped out and runs away, creates a situation where she'll have to be close to George from here on in. Not leaving a lot of room for choice here, you know?

Dykes to Watch Out For #78 (1990)

Prison abolition wasn't as mainstream a platform in the early 90s as it is now so props to Bechdel for bringing it up here. Activists being targeted and silenced by the law is a big topic right now but as Mo and Clarice point out that had been part of the US law enforcement playbook for decades, which disproportionately targeted Black radicals (this strip was only five years after the MOVE bombing, and Angela Davis (author of Are Prisons's Obsolete?) who was thrown in solitary confinement in the early 70s, looms heavily over this particular strip).

Tempeh tartare is apparently a real thing. What's more, it looks pretty good.
