As I understand it, FOOB was originally more or less autobiographical, and April's conception is where it goes off the rails into authorial wish-fulfillment. Is this absolute cartoon nemesis of a character an early sign of that or does she map onto one of Lynn's actual relatives?

DC Money posted:this one is going completely over my head - like not a clue, man. Can someone Red and Rover it for me? SaaS (Software as a Service, basically poo poo you used to buy and install is now on the cloud and requires a subscription) is a giant buzzword. I'm pretty sure SaaSaaS already exists though, it's called "middleware" and it's fractally multiplying as we speak.

It's less nice when you think about how blatantly she later portrays it as good for Michael and Elizabeth to grow up into her again while judging every adventurous decision Elizabeth and April make (not to mention the whole Michael and Lynn's real son thing).

Uncle Max really comes off different as an adult than as a kid. I know that's also true just of Calvin and his parents in general but it hits different being able to think of him as someone who doesn't know Calvin instead of just someone Calvin doesn't know. I wasn't even a Calvin as a kid but just being able to empathize with the grown-up passage of time and living far away from people you love.

This K&K feels uncomfortably like dumping on SJWs way before that was an everyday thing. "These oversensitive bugs are oppressing everyone else with their feelings!" It's kind of ironic that the storyline shows they literally don't get justice and are literally at mortal danger in society...

You're putting a whole lot of energy in over one poster being like "wow this is sort of yikes as an adult." The fact that it hits different now than it likely did on publication is the entire observation.
