Manuel Calavera posted:Rose is Rose, Pat Brady in 1984. More slice of life glurgy. There is a baby cousin who talks weird (Pasquale used to have that speech impediment.) Brady likely has a fat fetish, there were old comics involving it. Plus Rose's mom is, not a svelte lady. Also Rose's "biker chick" alter ego is incredibly mild and tame. I'm clarifying this because I feel like feeder stuff is far creepier, especially stuff like early Rose is Rose where it centers on the fed party being unaware of their partner's intention to make them fat.

Bonus points if the fact that Gunther makes the cosplays Bets wears comes up as a way to attack her, when she's apparently been very open online about having a boyfriend and building Gunther up, not stealing credit or anything.

I dislike both Ellie and her husband who's name I don't remember, not!Anthony, so the petty part of my brain is trying to eat itself over this storyline. ...but honestly the person having the baby should get the most say and as long as she's planning on doing all her pre-natal appointments and assessing the risk of the delivery it's fine. I imagine hospital delivery is most necessary if there are risk factors going on that mean you might need immediate medical attention.

I'm enjoying vintage Prince Val, except for the part where the narrative insists on calling the heavily physically and mentally disabled man 'it' and 'the creature'. Thorg is a human being, Foster!

I'm not hating this Dick Tracy storyline since it seems to be building to something. It really hasn't been sticking the landing in the past year or so, though, so I'm not holding my breath. I really hope after this Vitamin turns into a side side side character but I doubt it.

Uhhh, iirc that reflex is only present in very young infants to keep them from breathing in the water, they'll still drown. EDIT: Okay looking it up it specifically triggers by your nose getting cold and wet while you're holding your breath, so it might help buy time in specific circumstances but it's dangerous to overstate it. Infant swimming is a thing and the thing they traced the picture from, but again, you kind of have to go into more detail to keep that from being dangerous misinformation. With the coconut water thing, my understanding was that if you're absolutely out of other supplies, an IV of coconut water might hurt the patiently more slowly than blood loss or dehydration, thus the emergency qualification, but it's absolutely not up to medical standards, it's very much a case of buying time and hoping. Mark Trail's Troubled Children is very funny to me, but I agree there's artists who 'deserve' the gang tag more. I like the Wallace Seagull, but i think something else needs to be in the background. Maybe someone could find a good Alice that works at that resolution?

"Sanity savers" is kind of a goofy way of putting it but having even just an hour of space while your kid is taken care of by someone you trust is a huge boon to new parents. She could even cash it in a bunch at once and go out on a date! I think it's a rad gift.

Obviously this doesn't mean if you grew up abused you're destined to be an abuser, but I think if you aren't given the resources to unpack what happened to you and don't do that hard emotional processing you're left in a really unhealthy place. It's never too late to get help, but unfortunately it can be too late to have a healthy relationship with certain people.
