Back in the '80s my friends apartment was like this; he didn't have to pay for the heater and it ran 24/7 all year long. Fantastic in the winter but during the summer it was unbearable to be inside! We'd play cards there until 2am and you'd think it was strip poker because we'd all be in our boxers or shorts.

Well see, half the buildings were really old back in the late 80s and were heated with boilers. The temperature of a room would vary from comfortable to tropical. If you lived in an apartment or dorm near the campus you could endure a little cold so you could wear clothing appropriate for the rooms.

I would but he's not syndicated and most of his material is rated R because it was produced for Playboy magazine.

I do like that Gary Larson gives a shout out to Kliban as one of his major inspirations. There was a thread four years ago about Larson that in the middle a bunch of people poo poo on Kliban because for whatever.

What's really insulting is how Team Evans didn't even put in any effort to draw Pru getting proposed to. Reading between the lines, it seems like Pru's girlfriend didn't even bother meeting her in person and just sent her proposal in a loving letter. At least Holbrook actually draws his characters getting proposed to and looking pretty happy about it. This is just a really obvious ploy from Team Evans to get rid of their only LGBTQ+ character.

Would anyone take offense if I started sharing Kliban? He's got a daily spot in GoComics apparently. Kliban's work was the inspiration for The Far Side.

Most people are familiar with his 80s cat comics

However he got his start in Playboy magazine. His art ranged from brilliant to offensive to just plain dumb, being that GoComics is hosting them I'm sure at worst it's going to be PG stuff.

I won't post any of the NWS stuff, but here's a sample. (Warning, Nudity)

Some of his NWS stuff is misogynistic and offensive but if you want to see it it's easily found all over the internet.

Someone was posting Kliban a while back, and I'd be happy to have him here again. They may have just been posting the cat comics. Either way I'm good.
Thanks, I was looking for at least one voice of support to do it. :)

I discovered Kliban back in the 80s when my friend got "Whack your Porcupine and other drawings" as an Xmas gift and loaned it to me. I think I got half the jokes, I must have been twelve.

I'm just going to follow each day as they are on GoComics. I know there's some trick for getting a higher resolution image but this is what I've got for now.

B Kliban - I recently subbed to /r/FuckImOld and it's funny to see people nostalgic for things I hated as a youth. Someone recently was nostalgic for steel soda cans. I remember the pull tabs being everywhere including hidden in the lawn grass ready to slash your feet open. I also remember the kitchen have needle-nose pliers because every once in a while the pull tab ring would break before you got your soda open and you either got it out with the pliers or had to punch holes in it with a triangular can opener and drink out of a glass like a loser.
