Alhazred posted:I stumbled across the dumbest tv show on Discovery Channel: Man vs. Bear. The concept is dumb enough (can you out-bear a bear?) but what really pushes it over the edge is the contestants. It's all (male and female) bros who talks about how they are natural alphas who's hobbies are deadlifting cars and getting in barfights and they smack talks the bears for some reason. It's Discovery just doing bear pro wrestling then? I guess it was inevitable.

Oh that bear. That's not as fun. Unless the vs part is him making them drink his piss and eat rotting animal carcasses for no reason.

I could very easily serr Tom Cruise having insane little primadonna poo poo in his contract like all the goofy nonsense the Fast and Furious had to deal with with Vin Diesel (e: apparently i was thinking of Jason Statham) and the Rock where like they couldn't be shown kicking the other's rear end or whatever. I don't know that much about Keanu but i feel like it's be less likely from his end. I'd watch that though, they're both very good at that kind of movie. Yeah Jerry having his poo poo way more together than anyone else there and has an amazing home life really changes the joke for the better. But iirc they didn't do that until a few seasons of being dicks to Jerry had happened.

Argue posted:What are some good episodes of TV shows (movies are also okay) where the day is saved thanks unironically to the power of music? I'm thinking stuff like the ep of Chuck where Rush's Tom Sawyer saves the day, or last season's Legends of Tomorrow finale where James Taylor does. Steven Universe doesn't count because the songs just happen alongside events--it's rare that the songs themselves are the solution, and GotG doesn't count because that scene was just a distraction and not particularly tied to music. Preferably something where nobody in the scene winkingly goes "haha this is all so stupid and lame". Rush's Tom Sawyer also saved the day in Futurama, from invaders, from space.

I definitely see it as a comedy, but you're right, it's probably also a pretty realistic vision of how a space cruise would go if run by a real 21st century company, except with less slavery.

It's weirdly right/wing, and it has a bar fight for some reason. It's sappy, cliché, and not funny. I don't care about Sonic and this confirmed that as a good and sensible stance. The Sonic games are bad, even the Genesis ones. Video game movies are bad. The sonic movie is almost certainly reaaaaaaaaaal bad. I might watch it for Jim Carey though, on video obviously. I'll spoiler it but it's purely conjecture. Then again I guess it's spoiler ish anyway if you haven't seen the pilot? Whatever, click at your own risk I guess. In the scene in the pilot the drug lord is killing everyone and finally is about to kill Jason Bateman he points his gun at Bateman says "Here we go" and then Bateman's character has a vision of his kids and happy memories. Then all of a sudden the drug lord is kneeling again and is willing to listen to his Ozark scheme. I'd be willing to bet that in the series finale they're going to pull the "it was a dream the whole time" trope and the last scene will show him saying "Here we go" and he shoots Bateman instead. I think you put orders of magnitude more thought into this than the show did.
