They definitely went down the predictable route to appease the masses. Anyone could have seen the good guy was the bad all along! twist coming from a mile away. It's a shame when writers decide to abandon good plot structure and character building to make room for shocking twists and turns. It's like when horror movie writers choose to add jump scares instead of adding to the atmosphere. I'll probably give the next season a pity view, but this show has definitely jumped the shark.

On the other hand, I started watching Utopia and finished the first episode. Interesting, but it's a bit of a chore so far.

Season 2 was the real peak of the show and I will fight anyone who says otherwise :colbert:

I mean they did specifically say it was the last straw. Not like everything was going great then she dipped out over such a tiny thing. I mean it's common enough in regular life where friends will have a little beef and one asks for a tiny favor only to get turned down and it's like "welp see ya never shitnuts." Friendship with ABC over. Helps to have a new friend waiting in the wings too though.

It's this. She was probably getting a ton of poo poo behind the scenes, despite basically carrying their network, and now they can't even accommodate her on this tiny thing. That's the moment she realized that Disney and ABC would never change so gently caress em.

It's not the value of the ticket, it's that they can't or won't even keep their word on simple poo poo so why would she expect them to do any better in the future? It's a bit like the M&Ms stories for rockstars and their touring venues.

Is The Good Fight any good? I bailed on Good Wife towards the last season and don’t really want to go back but I’d do Fight to start from the ground up. I also can’t believe it has 4 seasons ...

It's good. Each season is only 10 eps, with the 4th only being 7 eps(I assume due to covid).

The first season is about not-Bernie Madoff, but then that plot is basically dropped in subsequent seasons and replaced with Trump poo poo. I thought it was a shame since the ponzi scheme plot was more interesting than the Trump stuff. The show still has great secondary and guest characters, including Micheal Sheen playing a great character in season 3.

Did the second season get substantially better than the first?

I liked a lot of the characters but it felt really relentlessly low rent - I checked out during the bottle episode with the coffin / highwaymen.

Sounds like the show just isn't to your liking. That episode was fantastic.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if there's a show that gets immediately rebooted and fills the slot the original just vacated.

That kinda almost happened with Arrow ending and then the CW picking up the spinoff about his daughter who will do Arrow related shenanigans. idk if the CW actually greenlit that show though.

I don't really care that they didn't use some obscure EU or video game character. It could have just been some random person to answer the call.
