How is it that all the conservative cartoonists seem to have the absolute worst takes on every single topic? You’d think even a gimme like “son of the Queen wants to spend less time dealing with lovely journos” which doesn’t need any commentary beyond “cool” would be something they could manage, but no

The cartoonists don't know or care that they're winning any Gay Abortions, but we're having this conversation because there are people browsing D&D who don't read political cartoon threads and would like to not see an incendiary thread title easily interpreted to use their sexual orientation as a pejorative if you haven't memorized an old in-joke cartoon, which they haven't, because they don't read political cartoon threads.

It's very little effort to go through, and there's no point in defending the honor and integrity of the politoons thread about the pants-on-the-groundiest JPEGs.

Bors has read the thread at some point and I’m sure at least a few other cartoonists are aware of us. There’s a non-zero chance cartoonists actually hear about it. The name should definitely have a negative connotation even if it isn’t Gay Abortion

Like New York and Washington are probably hosed in WW3 but the mid sized cities are probably just going to see some fireworks in the distance and then continue as normal. Just not have people travel too close to the radioactive ruins for a few years.

Like all wars, you don’t need to kill everyone to complete gently caress them up. A handful of nukes targeting every major city in the US would obliterate our economy and ability to function. Everything from food to medicine distribution would fall apart. Our collective knowledge would disappear overnight. If we get hit and retaliate in turn, two countries will be reduced to rubble in one day, and the global economy would also tank. If enough nukes are launched, the climate will get turbofucked, countless other countries will be affected, and hundreds of millions if not billions of people will die as a consequence over the next few years

First off that truck somehow has hover wheels and no contact with the ground which means no traction. Second, that pulley configuration is lifting the rear drive wheels of an already front heavy vehicle without a load upwards, therefore futilely dropping the world back into poverty all while blowing coal.

I say rightly because their extreme wealth more or less completely insulates them from any negative consequences short of total worldwide governmental collapse. No matter how bad things get anywhere, they can always move to somewhere better. And they’ll be dead before anything gets really bad. Republicans have already blown their load so hard by spending the last couple decades railing against democrats as godless socialists who want to give you free stuff that now that we have an actual socialist likely to take the Dem nominee, they need to amp up their complaints but can’t take it any further without it falling flat.

“That’s right, Bernie is going to make *EVERYTHING* free for *EVERYONE*, and you know who’s gonna pay for it all? *YOU*, the *TAXPAYERS*, who will also get everything for free I guess and his tax plan is only really going to raise taxes on the wealthy so most of you are just gonna get free stuff without paying any more and that’s bad I swear...

I feel like even that very specific situation involves some sort of tax somehow.

That talking point ignores everything except the income tax. It’s true that close to half of us all pay little or nothing in income tax, but that’s because we also get paid poverty wages. I remember back when the total reported Corona cases was in the low thousands. Back then I assumed that it was just another bit of disease fearmongering that we’ve seen so many times already. By the time it was clear that it was an actual threat, we were still a few weeks out from any other government taking it seriously. And the US took even longer than that to respond at all. It feels naive to blame it on China when we already knew the details at 1000 cases and didn’t give a gently caress about it

A lot of people are absolutely conflating the two, or at least saying the first part to imply the second part, whether they sincerely believe it or not. Like Fox News, for example. What's the point of talking about how China handled the early stages otherwise if not to say that China's actions are what brought us to our current situation?

It’s just that the way he talks about certain subject shows that he’s well-versed enough in lefty rhetoric in a way that none of the other conservative cartoonists are. You get the impression that Lester and Branco live in tiny media bubbles and have never actually spoken to a leftist in their entire lives, whereas Fishman may have actually put in his 80 hours of research. This doesn’t mean Fishman is good or secretly lefty or anything, just that at best he’s a mercenary who cares more for a paycheck than about human rights, and that at worst he’s someone who has actually listened to and thought about leftist arguments, but decided that his own monstrous views are better
