"these are terrorists who don't respect life, hate anything good, and are willing to kill anything or anyone in their way. And we need to act just like they do because we're the good guys." the only thing trump has ever protected anyone from is from spankings and that's only because his hand got there first. there's a gigantic danger when using a gun as a metaphor. here we have the gun as a rope in a game of tug of war. however, by making the rope a gun, the entire game changes since one end will kill you. it becomes one side trying desperately to point the barrel at themselves as the other side, the side with the trigger, tries to look innocent while holding a gun. the game becomes inherently unbalanced as one side has a gun and the other has a gun pointed at them. also the "good guy and bad guy struggle over a gun" trope only has one use I've ever seen: the bad guy struggles to kill the good guy while the good guy tries to not die. and the good guy is never at the trigger of the gun. basically, by replacing a harmless rope with a gun, garrison unintentionally changed the entire scene but doesn't get paid to care about details like that.

Refusing to cede lands and incomes, taking an active role in government. The Monarchists who are actually in it for the Monarchy and not just for the tradition of having a figurehead hope that one of them will do this. Of course, even if one of them did try (they won't) it wouldn't work because Parliament would just get rid of the Monarch's theoretical power and it's not like the army would actually listen to a suddenly authoritarian Monarch.

Socialism is enticing America with (Free Stuff/A chance to kick the football), but it will pull away from its promises and leave America injured on the floor. all these comics are purposefully conflating the abstract concept of "fear" a non-tangible thing that can't hurt you to an actual, physical virus that can kill you. no one is cowering in their homes because they're afraid, we're actively avoiding a real thing. i'm not wearing a mask because of vague fears, i'm wearing a mask to try to prevent a thing getting through the mask. this is the equivalent of graffiti that says "what're you: a pussy??" it's just...dude, go gently caress yourself
