Yeah i remember loving it when it came out but also remember vividly how it played, which is why i haven't even bothered reistalling it.

The Dune setting is really good for rts games i think, which incidently is also why Dune 2000 is the best C&C.

Play as a lonely Shade, the last servant of a king who once ruled an underground kingdom.
The king's powers have faded and he falls asleep for 400 days to regain his might.
It is your duty to stay in the earthen palace until he awakens.

As soon as you start, the game inevitably counts down the 400 days - even when you stop playing and exit the game.
It is now up to you to decide what to do with your solitary existence beneath the soil. Don't stress yourself, you have plenty of time.

I bought this thing and have been playing for a little while. There seems to be a ton to explore here. I’ve seen some really cool rooms and I’m now totally lost. Luckily it has a list where you can save various spots to return to so you can always find your way back to a certain spot. Example, there was once place that my guy said might be accessible like a week from now, so I marked it to return back to. Also marked my “home.”

Found some new chalk colors to draw with, some new books that can be read in my home, and some other decorative stuff. Also minor game mechanics spoiler I guess: since I’ve found some things to decorate my room, time now moves faster in there

This seems neat if you like exploration and timed stuff and you don’t mind that the character moves around at a slow plod. It’s very relaxing. Although I’m going to have to start making a map, I think.

I ended up buying and playing 15.2 hours of Iratus and i cant play a second of it more without going from "slight annoyance at having spent money on it" to straight up resentment.

I think it's a really bad game. Mainly because of how much it just tries to do the "darkest dungeon thing" which would have been perfectly fine if there was any improvements to the systems at all.
Instead it just feels like they were trying to fix some the "problems" some people had with DD and did it in the most half-assed way possible.

- The game is just way to easy on the normal difficulty. Of those 15.2 hours, i only had one fight i was in danger of losing and that was only because i accidently (due to the lovely interface) went into a battle with
a team of only two characters.

- All the abilities are incredibly boring. There's not a single interesting one among them and none of the "upgrades" change that. Some of them also just feels terribly balanced to the point where I just dont see why
I would ever use them.

- The narrator is annoying as hell. I like Blood as much as the next guy but he's got like 10 lines that just play over and over and over again and maybe 1 or 2 of them were funny the first time you hear them.
The music is also just bland and boring.

- The artstyle is just straigh up garbage. It looks like a terrible phone game and it's made even worse by some of the laziest animations i have seen in a long time. The way the characters move and how stilted everything is
reminds me of something out of this old dumb video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ij4w7ChpuaM

- I also think that its a really pathetic to bill this game as some kind "you are the evil wizard guy come to spread death and terror" when its made clear right away that the world sucks poo poo and that being hot boob vampire enthralled to this idiot is infinitely better than whatever the "good guys" are doing. Just commit to letting us be the bad guy instead of whatever this garbage is.

- This is an extreme pet peeve but the skeleton keeps talking, sprouting the same one liner again and again and that makes me mad for some reason.

Im not very good at formulating my opinion on games so I usually don't, but I figured i would do it for Iratus since i very rarely end up disliking a game like this.

Boba Pearl posted:

The part where he said "I'm ok with rape being used as a weapon by enemies in erotic video games" and the part where he said "SS soldiers were just born in the wrong generation in Germany."

You are really reaching here....

They are just saying that they would be okay with a game where a rape has happened, as opposed to posters in the thread saying they dont want to deal with it at all (which is also completely fair).
They are not saying they want want to watch enemies do it. And even go on to say that they would immediately drop the game if the player was made to do it.

The "pro-nazi" thing just seems like a weird dig at germans, implying that all germans would be nazis if they lived during those years (and i doubt this was their intent).

It just seems like some weird wording and if i remember correctly Phlegmish is not a native english speaker.
No need roll in and immediately accouse them of being a pro-rape chud or whatever.

Also lol at that 1 day probation ...

I am really trying to cut out alot of computer usage, and I finally cut myself out of WoW the other week.

Right now, I am trying to play through the old Steam games I have that Ive never played, or played for a few minutes.

Working on Anodyne right now, then Bastion and Transistor. I want to do Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon, since I'm a sucker for that 80s neon laser nonsense.

Almost done with Orcs Must Die from last time I stopped playing, but Havent touched Orcs Must die 2 yet.
